Chapter 3: The Ancient Pact! Beezelmon Gets Beaten By a Champion Digimon!!
Later, that afternoon, Jeri 2 was now talking with Jeri's stepmom, Shizue. Her sincerest wish was to make a connection with her.
Jeri 2: Ummm...Shizue? Can I talk with you?
Shizue: Sure, Jeri. I'm guessing that it's as important a talk as the one you had with your dad, yesterday.
Jeri 2: Yeah. It is.
Shizue: Well, I hope it doesn't involve you hitting me in the face.
Jeri 2: Of course not. Dad asked me to do it.
Shizue: (looks confused) If you say so.
Jeri 2: Listen...the reason I never got close to you...is because I didn't want to replace my mom. It hurt, when dad remarried.
Shizue: Jeri...just because he married me, doesn't mean he doesn't think about Michiko. (looks down) She was a good friend. She and I were honor roll students...we were best friends. On the day before she went to the hospital, she called me.
Michiko: Shizue? It's me...Michiko.
Shizue: Hi, Michiko. How are you?
Michiko: Not so good. The local physician said I have Leukemia. I'll have to go to the hospital for treatments. I don't think I'll survive them, though.
Shizue: Don't talk like that! You're a tough girl! You've ALWAYS been tough!
Michiko: Maybe so...but something in my blood tells me...that my time on Earth is ending.
Shizue: NO! I CAN'T LOSE YOU!!
Michiko: Jeri's acting the exact same way. Now, please, listen. After I'm gone, Jeri will be without a mother. I want you to be her mother, in my place.
Shizue: What? NO! I couldn't possibly...
Michiko: Please! Jeri's so young. She needs someone, after I die. And you're my best friend. And I think you'll be great for Tadashi.
Shizue: But....I...
Michiko: Look...I need you to be Jeri's pillar of strength, and her rock to lean on. Please...promise me you'll do this.
Shizue: I promise. I never met Tadashi...but if we do fall in love...I'll do as you say.
Michiko: Thank you.
Shizue: So you see...your mother wanted me to take care of you, from now on. That was her last request to me. I've tried to help you, as she wanted...but you never let me near. (begins to cry) Sometimes, I feel if I failed your mother.
When Shizue told Jeri 2 about her connection with Michiko, the real Jeri looked at her on the screen, and cried.
Jeri: Oh my goodness...Shizue is the good friend mom always talked about...(cries, and falls on her knees) I'm so sorry, mom...I never meant to push her away! Forgive me....please.
Gennai: It's alright. I'm sure she does forgive you. (Tonight is probably the night the Fallen Angel Digimon from the great beyond shall test Black Gatomon and see if she's still on their side. Impmon might be forced to digivolve into Beezelmon...even so...he will lose. The pact has ALWAYS been enforced.)
Back on Earth, Jeri 2 finally bridged the gap between Jeri and her stepmom.
Jeri 2: Mom...I love you. (hugs Shizue, crying)
Jeri's Stepmom: I love you too, Jeri.
In Jeri's room, two pictures were on the desk. The first one had Jeri, her birth mom, and her dad on it. The second one was more recent. It had Jeri's stepmom and Masahiko in it...as well as Leomon. This picture Jeri insisted to take before she went on her tragic journey.
Jeri 2: Jeri's dad's opening up quite nicely. He's a bit of a disciplinarian, but he truly has a big heart. Reminds me of Piximon. Yeah...if he was a tamer, the pixie would be his mon. (giggles) Better go to bed, now.
As Jeri 2 slept, she was haunted by dreams of her family...they were glowering upon her.
Devimon: How could you, Black Gatomon?! You're starting to get attached to that human! Do you realize you're breaking the pact?
Jeri 2: (is Black Gatomon in her dream) No, brother! I'd NEVER betray the sacred oath! EVER!
DemiDevimon: You're as bad as Ice Devimon. Worse, even! You're starting to have feelings for that family.
Black Gatomon: (shakes her head, and is angry) You're wrong! I'm NOT LIKE HIM!!
Ice Devimon: Then you must PROVE IT! As you know, Impmon has broken the pact, when he sided with the tamers! He MUST BE PUNISHED!!
Black Gatomon: I understand. What do you want me to do?
Devidramon: Ggggrrr....gggrrr...RRROOOAARRRGGHH!!
Black Gatomon: I can't understand a word that dumb mutt is saying! Translation...Marine Devimon??
Marine Devimon: You must go back to the Digiworld, right away! Once there, beat Impmon up, and make him feel a taste of humility!
Black Gatomon: I understand. Should I dispose of him?
SkullSatamon: That isn't necessary. All you need to do...is defeat Impmon in battle. Then, and only then, will you prove to us that you haven't forgotten the vow.
Black Gatomon: Understood. I WILL punish Impmon for his fall from grace! That'll prove I'm not a traitor! When do you want me to go?
Devimon: Right now would be nice!
Black Gatomon: (smirks evilly) Consider it done!
As Jeri 2 woke up. She knew that it wasn't just a dream. Without a second thought, she got dressed, and teleported to the Digital World. There, Impmon was at rookie level, again. He was in awe at the fully restored DigiWorld.
Impmon: WOW! Look at how nice everything is! That means the Digidestined came and did their work. I never felt this peaceful, in my entire life. (looks down, is slightly sad) Yet somehow...I have a feeling Jeri is in the area. If I didn't absorb Leomon, he'd be back in a Digiegg, by now!
It was at that moment, that the disguised Black Gatomon approached Impmon. At first, he mistook her for Jeri...but then she revealed herself.
Jeri 2: You traitor! Did you honestly THINK you could GET AWAY WITH IT?! I can never forgive you for what you've done!
Impmon: (turns around...and sees "Jeri") JERI! What are you talking about? I thought you've forgiven me for killing Leomon!
Jeri 2: You KNOW what I'm talking about...FOOL! You broke the pact!
Impmon: THE PACT?!?! Wait a sec! YOU'RE NOT JERI!!
Jeri 2: That's right. Allow me to refresh your memory. You had just became Beezelmon. I spotted you, as you were cruising on that bike. I approached you, and made you come to a stop!
Black Gatomon: Stop!!
Beezelmon: (screeches to a halt) Who are you? I almost ran you over! Watch what you're doing!
Black Gatomon: My name is Black Gatomon. I am a Demon Beast Digimon of the Champion variety. With my Cat Kick and Cat Punch, I can knock my opponents silly.
Beezelmon: Nice commentary. What does that have to do with me?
Black Gatomon: You see...you're a Fallen Angel Digimon. And as such, it is your duty to uphold the ancient pact made by our ancestors.
Beezelmon: (gets off the bike, and looks at Black Gatomon) Pact? What pact?
Black Gatomon: I'll tell you. The pact we Fallen Angel Digimon have made is a way of behaving. It's the epitome of how we are supposed to act. There are rules to follow. First...always eradicate your opponent, if he or she stands in your way.
Beezlemon: I'm listening.
Black Gatomon: Second...never betray your brethren. At no point should you become a good guy! That means...no fraternizing with the enemy, or becoming the chosen Digimon of a Digidestined, or a TAMER! Third...you must never, EVER approach a tamer, kidnap him or her just so you could Digivolve! Ice Devimon did that...and look what happened to him!
Beezelmon: I thought he was defeated because of Growlmon!
Black Gatomon: That's PARTIALLY CORRECT! The truth of the matter is he broke the pact! So his power was weakened, so he could pay the price! It is a fellow Fallen Angel Digimon's duty to mete out punishment to ANY who BREAK...THE PACT!! I was there, unknown to Ice Devimon's knowledge! Why do you THINK it was SO EASY for Henry and Takato to beat him?
Beezelmon: You mean...
Black Gatomon: That's right. Now, go, Beezelmon! Go and be a TRUE Fallen Angel Digimon! (is about to leave) And remember...if you break the pact...I WILL...come back for you! And you'll learn the full extent of the pact...THE HARD WAY!!
Beezelmon: I'll try to remember that. (gets on his bike) The last thing I want is to be a dead Digimon. I'll admit...I'm scared.
Black Gatomon: You'd better be scared. Remember...there are dire consequences for those who break the pact. See ya!
Impmon: I remember now! You're...Black Gatomon!
Jeri 2: That's right. I have obligations to stay true to, you wretched excuse of a Virus-type Digimon! (smirks evilly) I feel SO CONFIDENT about beating you...I'll allow YOU to WARP DIGIVOLVE.
Impmon: You'll pay for taking Jeri's form...and using HER VOICE! IMPMON...WARP DIGIVOLVE TO...
In a burst of light, Beezelmon once again made his appearance. Little did he know, he would be powerless against Jeri 2.
Beezelmon: BEEZELMON!! Now then, Black Gatomon...whatever you did with Jeri...I'm going to make you pay...and then I'll rescue her!
Jeri 2: FOOL! Jeri hasn't been harmed! She's safe in Myotismon's old castle. That's MORE THAN I CAN SAY FOR YOU!!
Beezelmon started the ball with his Double Impact, which was nimbly dodged. Then, Black Gatomon, who shifted into her true form, used the Cat Kick. For some reason...it was weakening Beezelmon. Then, as he tried the Darkness Claw, she just used another Cat Kick to counter it.
Beezelmon: UUNGHH! What's...happening to me?! I'm A MEGA DIGIMON! I CAN'T LOSE to a CHAMPION!
Black Gatomon: You're dumber than you look. You see...if any fallen angel Digimon breaks the pact, the attacks from a fellow Fallen Angel Digimon has the power to nullify the traitor's power. My brethren in the Dark Ocean want you beaten.
Beezelmon: Man...(is panting) I can't believe I'm being beaten! BLAST MODE! (changes form) CHAOS FLARE!!
But as Beezelmon tried to blast Black Gatomon, she dodged him again, and used a Cat Punch which was so powerful, it knocked her opponent out cold. Then...she gave him a couple more punches and kicks, until he couldn't stay in his Mega Form any longer. Impmon was defeated.
Impmon: Ooohh...I can't believe you beat me! (is bruised and battered) I bet you're gonna kill me now...aren't you? (passes out)
Jeri 2: (changes back) Actually, no. I'm going to throw you in the dungeon. You've suffered your most humiliating defeat at the hands of a Champion Digimon. (picks him up, and walks to the castle, which is nearby) I wish I had my wings.
Soon enough, at Myotismon's castle, Jeri was shocked to see Impmon get thrown into the dungeon.
Jeri: IMPMON!! (looks angry at Jeri 2) What HAVE you DONE to HIM?!
Jeri 2: All I did was mete out the appropriate punishment he rightfully deserved. We Fallen Angel Digimon all follow a sacred pact. If someone breaks the pact, it is the intrinsic duty of a fellow Digimon of that type to punish that traitor. (looks down) If you truly want someone to blame for Leomon's death...it's me.
Jeri: WHY?! Why'd you encourage him to do it?!
Jeri 2: You don't understand! it's part of the pact. It's a code of honor ALL Fallen Angel Digimon MUST FOLLOW TO THE LETTER!
Gennai: She's right, Jeri. This pact is a code of conduct which all Fallen Angel Digimon must follow. First... always eradicate your opponent, if he or she stands in your way. Second...never betray your brethren. If a Fallen Angel Digimon turns good, or wants a Tamer to make him or her strong, then it's the duty of a fellow Fallen Angel Digimon to punish that traitor. Beezelmon might be considered a Fallen Angel Digimon, but, he's got a lion's heart. He's truly a good Digimon.
Jeri: Why'd he have to be punished for that?
Jeri 2: It's the law which Fallen Angel Digimon must live by. I was only carrying out my duty. He'll be okay, though. My brethren wanted him beaten...not deleted. I'm sorry if I hurt him...but I HAD to do this. It was the only way to prove I'm not a traitor.
Jeri had at last come to an understanding of why Beezelmon killed Leomon. He was only following the code of honor of all Fallen Angel Digimon.
Jeri: I understand, now. I now know why you killed Leomon, Impmon. At the time...you were afraid of the consequences. But absorbing Leomon's data gave you the devotion needed to overcome all that. (looks at him) I guess that's what they call destiny.
Impmon: Unnnghhh...(comes to) Jeri. I'm sorry. Everything Black Gatomon said is true. You were also correct about my being afraid. I was afraid of the power Black Gatomon would have, if she became Lady Devimon again.
Jeri: It's okay. I think I finally understand, now. You had no choice in the matter. When Leomon told you to stop, you were more afraid of breaking this pact, rather than the consequences of your actions. I'll bet you were worried that something like this would happen.
Impmon: You're 100% correct, Jeri. I had no choice. It's true...at the time, I considered dying at the hands of Gallantmon preferable to breaking the pact. You saved me. And for that, I'm truly grateful.
Then...Leomon spoke through Impmon. Jeri was shocked.
Leomon: (speaks to Jeri through Impmon) You shouldn't feel sorry, Jeri. What happened was meant to be. Before I left, Gennai told me about yet another prophecy. "A Fallen Angel Digimon will assimilate a Beast Man Digimon, so he would have the power to save a girl, who shall be trapped in a mass of pure evil." I was one of the few, who knew who the D-Reaper really was. I did what I had to do, to help you, in the long run. I'm not afraid to sacrifice my life for those I care about.
Jeri: Oh man! These Digiworld prophecies are intense! I'm glad you're with me.
Leomon: Thanks, Jeri. By the way. Ogremon wanted to fight around the time I met you. When we did, I told him about you Tamers...he laughed so hard, he wasn't able to fight.
Jeri; (laughs heartily) No wonder you left! Anyway...thanks for being there...in spirit.
As Leomon stopped speaking to Jeri, it was time for the other Jeri to go.
Jeri 2: Well...I gotta get back to the Real World. By now...everything that was wrong in your life, is set right. Tomorrow...is the day Myotismon became VenomMyotismon. I'll need my rest for tomorrow.
Jeri: Okay. Good night. And thanks for helping me understand Fallen Angel Digimon better.
Jeri 2: No problem. Later.
And so, Jeri 2 went back to the real world, to get some sleep. The next day, in another dimension, Kari was dressed a black shirt, with some white pants, and purple gloves. Her boots were black, too. This outfit shocked poor Tai.
Tai: GYYYAAAAHHH!!
Kari: (giggles) Well, Tai...what do you think?
Tai: You look...different! Are you going Goth, or something?!
Kari: (giggles) No, silly. I'm gonna surprise TK at our date tonight. I need to see what he thinks.
Tai: (looks dumbfounded) Who's idea was this, anyway?
Kari: Sora's, of course.
Tai: SORA??
Kari: Yep. She said...Every once in awhile, you should show your guy a new side of you...a different outlook, which you never thought you had. Go against type, every once in awhile. And then see how people react. (winks)
Tai: Uunghh...Sora said that?
Kari: Yep.
Just then, Gatomon heard the email sound on the computer. She saw it was for Kari.
Gatomon: Kari! You've got mail!
Kari: Alright! Maybe it's from TK, saying he's all set!
Unfortunately, that was not to be. For it was an email sent from Black Gatomon....who used the name Lady Devimon on the email.
Kari: "Dear Kari...I hereby challenge Gatomon to a fight at Highton View Terrace in the world which Ryo has settled down in. She and I have unfinished business to settle...come alone. Signed...Lady Devimon." Oh, NOOO!! (puts her hands on her head) Not again. Why can't Lady Devimon leave us alone? She never wants to stop fighting Gatomon!
Tai: That email is from Angewomon's sworn enemy?!
Gatomon: It has to be! Kari...email TK, and tell him we could be a bit late. We've got work to do!
Kari: Right!
As Kari emailed TK, he sent a quick reply.
Kari: "If there's no other way, then you got to go, Kari! If that email is genuine, then a whole city of people will be in danger, unless you stop her! Now, got out there, and show Lady Devimon what you're made of!" (types on the reply email option) Thanks, TK. You're the best. (sends the mail, looks at Tai, and gets out her D3) Well, I gotta go. I, for one think it's really her. Wish me luck,
Tai: Good luck, Kari. I'm so glad to see you've grown up.
Kari: (smiles) Thanks. (looks at the computer) Digiport...OPEN!!
With no pause for alarm, Kari and Gatomon went into Digital World, and the route which Ryo and Rika used to exit the DigiWorld. She then uses it to open a Digiport in Henry's computer. When the leapt out...he was shocked. Kari was just as shocked to see they have a stowaway...Guilimon.
Henry: Huh?? My computer's acting weird! (sees a burst of light, and covers his eyes) WHAT'S GOING ON?!
Kari: (looks around) So...this is the world Ryo's living in? Not a shabby room.
Henry: (opens his eyes) Uuuhhh...uumummm...are you...K...K...K...Kari?
Kari: That's me.
Henry: But you're...you're REAL! HOW???
Kari: You know, that's exactly how some redhead with a broken heart t-shirt reacted. She and this yellow fox Digimon were...what did she call it? Biomerged into some sort of shaman digimon. I never seen anything like it.
Henry: YOU MET RIKA?!
Kari: Yeah. Anyway...I have to go to Highton View Terrace, right away. (looks at Gatomon) Shall we?
Gatomon: Yeah!
Kari: DIGI ARMOR ENERGIZE!
Gatomon: Gatomon...Armor Digivolve to...
Nefertimon: NEFERTIMON...The ANGEL of LIGHT!!
Guilimon: I'm coming, too.
Henry: GUILIMON! Takato was right, all along! He'll be glad to see you!
Guilimon: Thanks, Henry.
Kari: Hop on!
Guilimon: Right!
Henry: What's going on?
Kari: Lady Devimon's here! If you and these..."Tamers" want to watch, you're more than welcome to come.
Henry: Thanks. (goes to his dad)
Nefertimon: Hold on tight...cause here...we...GO!!
And so, Kari and Guilimon flew out door, and headed for Highton View Terrace. At the same time, Jeri 2 convinced Takato to go with her. They were taking the bus, there. It was 5:55 Pm, and as promised, Jeri 2 severed the link. Once again, the battle between Angewomon and Lady Devimon will begin anew. Who will win? Who will lose? It's going to be a fight you'll never forget!
