"Which class are you in?" someone asked Yashodhara when she went to India
as a six year old.
"Blue Door?" asked the perplexed questioner. Her answer was clear to her but not to him.
Big brother came to the rescue: "She means, that she is in kindergarten, and her classroom is called Blue Door."
A simple question, a simple response, but a cross-connection nevertheless.
We asked our reporters: How about you? What do you call the class you're in: standard? Grade? Class? Or something else?
England- We call it 'form'.
Cheers. Nived
Switzerland- Over here we say what grade are you in and "class" means classroom. Akriti
U.S.A.- Grade. Raghav
India- Standard. Yashodhara
How about in your country? Write in and let us know!
"I'm in Blue Door", said the kindergartner of a Montessori school, a little
befuddled by the question.
In India, the word "class" is used for "grade".
