Rastas Say On Why They Smoked Ganja/Marijuana
The majority of Rastafarians smoked ganja/marijuana as they believed it to be a holy herb. They based this on Psalms 104:14 of the King James version of the Bible which reads: "He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and the herb for the service of man." They believe ganja to be a wisdom herb that inspires on spiritually and brings them closer to God.
Some Rastas Don't Believe In Smoking Ganja
Lucky Dube is a very famous Reggae artist from South Africa. In a 1997 interview off his own offical web page it stated that he explains clearly that he does not smoke weed. Infact he said: "I don't like ganja. Alot of other reggae artists have gotten all messed up smoking too much ganja." Of Bob Marley he says he knows that he knows Bob smoke alot of weed but said he feels it was Bob Marley natural gift for music that inspired his songs rather than ganja.
What About Marijuana As Medicine?
Lucky Dube says he supports the medical use of marijuana for those who suffer from illnesses. I once asked my brother why marijuana in pill form is not used more. According to him he says individuals who are used to smoking alot of heavy-duty powered marijuana when they tried one pill the THC level was SO powerful it freaked them out for 2 or 3 days. In light of this, I think more fine tunning on a possible THC pill needs to be done. They need to mix the right amount so as to help the those who are ill instead of freaking them out. Prehaps a better way for exacting the THC instead of a pill would be to melt it down into a butter and cook it or bake it. I have heard positive results from this method in helping the ill.
