Aikawa Nanase
R-shitei
1. R-shitei
This is my first Aikawa Nanase song, so bear with me. It begins with some nice, crashy cymbals and percussion, then some steady guitars. Very rock, very fast. Her voice is a bit nasal and childish, and I'd like it to be harsher, but somehow it works with the music. This song just rockets along without stopping; it has a little bit of a punk feel somehow. It's not all that creative, but very hard to dislike. I'm torn between a 3 and a 4, but since it's different than anything I've heard lately, I'll go with a 4.

2. tsuki no sosogu
This is a bit more dramatic and serious, with some great drums and guitars again. Her voice sounds much better here, like a lower, more talented Hamasaki Ayumi. I like everything about this song except the choir of backup singers in the chorus. Honestly, where did they come from? The slightly dark feel of this song is a nice contrast to "R-shitei". There are times I'd like it to pick up a bit, but it's a really good song. And the guitar solo kicks ass. Who is her guitarist? Anyway, it's nice to know there are still some good female rockers out there.

3. kasa ni kakurete kiss shiyou
This is a little more acoustic, a little more pop like Avril Lavigne, and a litte more laid back. Not that any of those are necessarily bad, since Nanase is waaaaaay more talented than Avril. This is simply another solid track with some nice emotional touches. I particularly like the Beatles-esque background accompaniment. Nice. There's enough going on here that you can find new details every time you listen. I like songs like that. No complaints.
