B'z
It's Showtime!
I almost feel like it's pointless for me to review anything by B'z. After all, every one of their singles has reached #1. They have a have a great vocalist (Inaba Koushi) and a stellar guitarist (Matsumoto Takahiro). Neary everyone I've ever talked to likes B'z. It's nearly impossible to find something to complain about in their music. Still, it's my job to try. ^_~ So, on to their latest single.
Tak kicks ass. Seriously. |
1. It's Showtime!
This opens with some quiet guitars and percussion, then almost immediately kicks into high speed. This song is actually in a minor key, which should make it seem dark, but it's so upbeat that you probably won't even notice. Koushi's voice is very strong, but when isn't it? Tak's guitar lines have a nice melody, even if they're less pronounced than usual. The bridge, which goes into a major key, is so perfect, it makes you want the song to go on forever. This is big, loud arena rock with a slight American edge. I recommend everyone get this song, even if you're not a rock fan.

2. New Message
Ooh, more loudness. That makes me happy. This is also a very upbeat song, with crunchy guitars and great singing by Koushi. The chorus has a beautiful melody. For some reason, B'z songs make me think of Bon Jovi. Don't ask why. This song just makes me want to clap my hands and stomp my feet. It has that kind of feel-good energy to it. Oh, Tak's guitar solo around 2:40 is so cool, even if it is short. Kudos to the drummer here too. Really, I can't justify giving this song anything lower than a 10.
