WHITE OUT ~memory of a color~
1. WHITE OUT~memory of a color~
This song opens with some DRAMATIC vocals by Tetsu. In fact, it almost borders on melodramatic. This is pretty close to being a ballad, but is a little too mid-tempo. The major instrumentation is piano and keyboard synths. It's nice, but nothing special. The chorus returns to that dramatic refrain, which almost makes me want to laugh. I mean, the verses are very quiet and restrained, and then Tetsu just bursts out. This is a pretty good song, and shows that Tetsu can vary his style easily. I appreciate that kind of talent. On a side-note, the English parts of this song are almost unintelligable. Looks like he and Ken have the same problem.

2. WHITE OUT~memory of a color~ album version
At first, I really thought this was a totally different song. It's much faster, upbeat, and sounds like early L'Arc~en~ciel. I can definitely imagine hyde singing this. This version has some great percussion and guitars, but retains the same feel during the chorus. It does seem less out of place here, though. This version is also a bit shorter, which is nice since it kind of dragged before. I have to admit, this song is fun.

3. 15 1/2 over the rainbow remix
Ooh, my favorite thing in the world: remixes of songs I didn't really like in the first place. Be still my heart. Err, this opens with a voice speaking in English, but I couldn't catch most of it. There are bells and chimes in this version, but the instrumentation is still really light. It does have a more ethnic feel now. If only it didn't feel so much like the 'Shinkirou' remix on the '15 1/2' single. I think I like this a little more than the original, but not much. That it's been stretched to over 6 minutes seems a little ridiculous. It's just too long.

The final track is a karaoke version of 'WHITE OUT.' Four tracks may seem generous, but when you stop to think that you're only actually getting one new song, it's a bit irritating.
