"The Glass House" FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT "THE GLASS HOUSE"
NOTE: these are my answers, so they might not be completely correct. Material on this site does not necessarily reflect the views of the ABC

"The Glass House" is a comedy show on the ABC at about 10:30pm on Friday nights. It is hosted by Wil Anderson, Corinne Grant and Dave Hughes. Official site can be found at http://www.abc.net.au/glasshouse
I thought I would put together a bit of a FAQ for the show, because I know from regularly reading through the guestbook that there are quite a number of questions that come up fairly often.

Is there any chance of the show going for longer? At the moment there are no plans to extend the show to longer than 25 minutes. Unfortunately, even though a longer show would bring a great deal of joy to the fans, it would also involve a lot more work for those involved. More material would have to be scripted and tapings would have to run for longer.
And although a lot more is recorded at the tapings than goes to air, a certain amount of this is cut out for legal reasons. A certain amount is also cut out because it didn't get a really good audience reaction. By restricting the show to half an hour it ensures that the best half an hour is broadcast. Besides, having stuff happen at the tapings that doesn't go to air gives an incentive to people who want to go watch the show being recorded.

How do I get to a taping?: Taping details are available on the site by clicking on the word "Tickets" on the side menu.
Tapings are usually every two weeks, on a Thursday night at the ABC studios at Ultimo in Sydney. Audience is told to get there at 6:30pm so vox pops can be recorded, and tapings usually run until 9:30pm.

Will there be DVD's or videos made available?: Last thing I heard was there is a possibility... they seemed to be wanting to get ideas/support for the idea from the fans. But I'll chase that info up.

Will Wil/Dave/Corinne marry me? I think you might have to ask them that yourself. But I don't think it's likely, particularly if they've never met you. But you never know.

Will there be transcripts made available? No... however (and I'm sorry to be plugging my own stuff), I (being so tragically obsessed with the show) have been doing detailed episode guides for all the episodes from the beginning (in 2001) onwards. They're not quite transcripts, but they give you a pretty good idea about what happened in the episode.

Will "The Glass House" be doing some tapings elsewhere in the country? This is from the Unofficial Glass House Site, it answers the question well, hence my quoting it:
7/8/03: During the break between the two shows at tonight's taping, a visitor from Darwin asked Wil if The Glass House had any plans to tour the country any time soon. This has been asked before, and unfortunately, money is the biggest issue here. It's not easy to pack up the whole set and transport it and all the cast and crew to another state, as much as they'd like to be able to do it. However, Wil did say that they're likely to do the Melbourne International Comedy Festival again, and also possibly the Adelaide Fringe, if the show continues into 2004, and if they can get the necessary resources.

When will "The Glass House" end tapings this year?: Tapings will end in Mid-November.

Can "The Glass House" possibly move to an earlier timeslot?: At the moment I don't think there is much of a chance of it changing timeslot. Due to its content, (Adult themes; material that may offend; sex references; drug references) it is rated M (though sometimes it does tend towards MA) and this restricts what time it can be shown at. If it is rated M it can only be shown after 8:30pm, if it is rated MA it can only be shown after 9:30pm. Considering the popularity of shows before it (especially Spooks, which currently runs in the 9:30 timeslot) "The Glass House" is not likely to change timeslot while it's still on tv. But I mean, if people keep commenting in the guestbook, maybe we might be able to get it to move to 9:30pm.

Is there a Glass House message board? There's no message board at the moment but to quote from a moderator comment "we're in the process of trialling out some message software now"
