Book 2, The creation of new races

Book 2 illustrates the beginning of the troll, kender, dwarf, orc, cruchip, and any other mentioned kingdoms. You will also read of the breaking of the elves, and the rising of the humans and half elves. All parts of this book are from an Elvin point of view. Any faerie creature ages that are mentioned in this book are based on appearances, not the real age.

Things had been going well for the creatures of faerie, and they went on happily for two hundred more years. Galadreil was still very youthful, but her cousins SR and MG were even more youthful, one always playing tricks, the other always day dreaming and drawing. Soon galadreil, sr, and mg considered each other sisters, proving to be the reason they refer to each other that way. SR was always getting into trouble, for she was constantly playing tricks on the towns folk. As the youngest no one really expected much more from her anyway, so why stop? Even from her face you could tell she was troublesome. Freckles were dusted all over her rosy cheeks, and her bright, frazzled blue hair tended to stick up at odd angles, forcing her to it in two long braids. Her teachers begged her to please act like more of a lady, and to stop her un becoming habits, but this just made things worse. MG had grown to be very pretty, having glistening blue hair and lily white skin. Mostly she went out side and strolled through the woods until she reached the out lying fields. Yes, she knew this place was off limits, and she knew if she was caught she'd be badly scolded, but that didn’t much matter to her. No one had claimed the fields as their own, so why should she be afraid? So the pretty, fair elf would walk on into the lovely fields, until she reached her favorite spot, which was a field covered in wild flowers of all varieties, containing every color you could imagine. Here MG would sit and draw, forgetting all her trivial troubles. It was here one day that she found something, or someone. The someone was a little girl, a beautiful Elvin child who was about 6 in appearance. She had glossy blonde hair like galadreil. Actually, she looked a good deal like galadreil had at that age. MG brought this child home, and on her way through the woods she saw galadreil. "Gal, come here! I've something to show you!" MG called, beaming with joy.

Gal calmly came over to her sisterly cousin, replying, "I've been sent to find you. Mum wants you, she says that tis time for you to stop your foolish day dreaming and come back for your lessons." but on seeing the little child a large smile spread over her lovely face. Instantly Gal liked this child. "Why, tis a little child. MG, where ever did you find her?" "Well, um, she was near the outer rim of the woods.." lied MG, not wanting to be scolded. It was here the child spoke up, saying, "No I twasnt. I was looking at the lovely flowers. They are so very nice, don’t you think miss MG?"

"Oh, you were were you? And was this field anywhere near the woods?" Asked gal slyly.

"No m'am, well, it maya been sorta close, but it twasnt on the rim of lorien." The little girl stammered, not sure what was going on.

MG turned red, blushing deeply. The attempt at lying obviously hadn’t worked, so she might as well tell the truth. "Okay, yes, I was out in the fields... but Gal, you know how much I like that field of flowers, and there’s no trouble out there. No one owns it.."

Instead of scolding gal just sighed and smiled, saying quietly, "I don’t think it is dangerous either, but mum says bad creatures live out there. I think she just does it to scare us away from going, but parts of what she says are true. Humans did flee to the fields long ago, and some still could be out there. I'd ruther you not take any chances."

"I'll think about it... but for the present, what do we do about the child?" MG glanced at the little girl, who was looking curiously at galadreil.

"Well dear, where are your parents?" Asked gal.

A sad, hurt look crossed the child’s face, "They got killed out in the field. I twas out picking flowers and when I came back they were dead. That’s all I know m'am."

A sad, confused look crossed mg's face. "I wonder how that happened.... Were they bleeding?"

"No, I had thought they were just asleep, but they weren’t, they were dead m'am." Said the child.

"Please, don’t call us m'am. It makes me feel old. Gal and MG will do just fine." Gal said calmly. "So, since your parents are dead, you should come home with us until we can find you a home. Come along dear.." Secretly, gal hoped they would be the ones keeping the child. And so the went back to the castle. Immediately MG was rushed off to her lessons by her teachers. Galadreil almost had the same happen to her, but firmly told her teacher she had to go see her mother at once. So with that gal brought the child to her mother, who also liked the blonde little elf at once. "I think.. I think she shall stay with us." Said the queen, "But you say you have no name. I find that a bit hard to believe.." The child did have a name, but the little elf detested her name, so she simply insisted that she had none. "Very well, how about Sun Lighter? Does that please you?" The queen asked. The child nodded, though she felt a bit disappointed. So that was how SL came into the picture. Galadreil and her were very close, one reason that sl often referred to herself as adrei. The fairy king and queen and their two daughters often came to visit, and since sl and dawn were near the same age they became very good friends, just as galadreil and eve were very good friends. Nobody could believe sl wasnt really galadreils sister, for sl resembled gal in every aspect.

So the elves were happy, the fairies were happy, the mermaids were happy, and the stirlings were happy. But then new creatures started to appear. The first ones to come out into the world were the dwarves. These dwarves were the humans who had fled to the underground tunnels so very long ago. Over time they grew shorter from having to duck down in the tunnels so often. The short, long bearded people soon mad peace with the faerie creatures, not wishing to engage in war. The problem was, the dwarves liked living in forests to. They refused to go back down into the dark tunnels, and in the end had to travel far to reach forestlands un-inhabited by anyone. This led to the reasons why dwarves and elves usually dislike each other, for they each want the forests as their own. Then came the orcs and trolls, the people who had fled to the mountains. The orcs were not the nicest creatures, and chose to stay in there secluded little mountain valleys, while the trolls decided to make peace. The orcs were smaller than the trolls, ranging from very large to very small. They had brown, bark-like skin, leathery ears that stood straight up and sharp, pointed teeth. The trolls were massive in size, with gray bark-like skin, huge muscles, human-like teeth, and leathery ears smaller than the orcs. Mostly they stayed near the bottom of the mountain, but some clans chose to live higher up on the peaks. After them came the cruchips. The cruchips looked like normal humans, except most had darker skin, eyes and hair from living in such dark conditions. But that wasn’t all. This race was perhaps the biggest enigma of all the races, because some how or another they had gotten magic. This wasn’t like the faerie creatures magic though, this was earth magic, magic from the environment. After living in the swamps for so long the cruchips had learned to live with the surrounding swamp creatures and had become extremely animal like in their actions and appearances. Mother earth had decided it wasn’t fair for only the faerie creatures to get magic, so she blessed this race with the magic of animals, enabling them to transform into any creature they wished. They were already very animal-like, so the adaptation was easy for them. There was a consequence though. Whichever creature a cruchip first decided to transform into, whether it be a wolf, bird, or snake, they got different parts of that creature added to them. For instance a cruchip who first turned into a wolf might get a wolf tail, ears, and teeth. Maybe a cruchip who turned into a snake got a snake tongue, slitted eyes, and snake-like nostrils. Then there were the cruchips who decided to turn into a regular human. These cruchips acquired no animal-like features, just looked like normal humans, except they could turn into other creatures. The cruchips lived longer than humans did because they, having the ability to turn into an elf, fairy, or an other faerie creature could extend their lives. They were always at odds with the creatures of faerie, each wanting to have the more powerful magic. Most were ill tempered, and very few were good natured. Kenders came next. Kenders... the ever annoying race of the kenders had been humans who had ventured into the desert lands. Most of the humans who had fled into the desert were children who had been left at home during the war. Not having much sense they ran into the desert, not very wise. These humans became apt to hallucinations because of the intense heat and lack of water they had. For these reasons they became slightly odd, always talking on and on to their friends or even themselves. They were very child-like, and never really grew up. Since they had no parents to teach them they knew no better. Last but not least came the humans who had stayed out in the fields. These stayed humans, and decided to live in the fields once more as they had done so long ago. The faerie creatures agreed to this and made a treaty with the humans, who in turn stayed in the fields, and left the faerie creatures homes alone (though they could quarrel with the cruchips, orcs, trolls, kenders and dwarves as much as the wanted). They had to let each other travel through each others kingdoms without kicking them out also, which all agreed to.

So again everyone lived in harmony, until a totally scandalous thing happened. An elven noble and a human female married and had a child together. At first they had tried to cover it up, pretending not to know each other. The Elvin father said he had found the child, who he named Timmy, but it became apparent that this was a lie after awhile, for the half Elvin features were obvious and people had seen the Elvin male with a female human quite often. The baby also possessed features that distinctly resembled its father and the woman. This was a very controversial thing, having a half elf around, especially since Bendelin had been a half elf and turned on them. So the races shunned the baby and its parents. The father was exiled from the land, much to the distaste of the royals and nobles, who either wanted him to be killed or wanted him to be left alone. Among those who wanted him killed (she also wanted the baby killed) was queen elendil, who would’ve had her way if it wasn’t for her daughters, who pleaded for her to reconsider. After all, the baby couldn’t help his parents and the noble elf couldn’t help who he loved. Plus resorting to such brutality was utterly disgraceful. So they compromised, coming to the conclusion of exiling the father and ignoring the baby and its mother. So the mother and child stayed in lorien a few more weeks before finally moving to the kingdom of the more understanding humans. Often Timmy would ask his mother what had become of his father, and time after time she would reply, "He is off on a business trip my dear." Then came the day when the mother decided to send Timmy to earth. She knew he could get training there that would one day help him, so she called to a dragon she saw flying over head and asked it to bring Timmy to earth. The dragon agreed and brought him to earth, leaving the child on the door step of a criminal organization where he would find good training.

Many elves didn’t agree with the way lorien was being ran, so they decided to leave and build their own kingdom in a far away forest, where the lord a lady were gwindle and elin and their daughter was Arwen. Their forest was a very dark forest though, unlike the golden wood, and since it always appeared to be night time there these elves were called night elves. After the night elves moved out, another small group of elves left lorien, making their kingdom on some close by hills. A large colony of rocs lived on these hills, much to the elves dismay, who tried to ignore them. At first they didn’t get along with the giant birds, but after awhile the rocs were tamed and these elves rode them, becoming known as sky elves. There were other groups of elves who left lorien, but they were very few and are not mentioned.

The Elves of the golden wood, the night elves, and the sky elves often got into squabbles, but the golden wood elves usually won these trivial arguments, because like it or not, they were still the most powerful of the three and the most respected. For the most part they never resorted to anything worse than that because they still respected the fact that they were kindred, even if they usually didn’t agree on things.

This wasn’t all that was happening though. It seemed that ever since Timmy had been born more and more elves and humans had taken likings to each other, resulting in more half elves. Finally these half elves moved away from their cold welcome at lorien and over to the human lands where they were more warmly appreciated. But even so the elves continued to act suspicious towards the half elves. They reminded the elves of the traitor Bendelin, who had oddly enough never been found....

But Bendelin was alive, very much alive, and was slowly rebuilding his kingdom, gaining allies, and plotting revenge.
