The couple was close friends with TIM The Shah and The Shahbanou of Iran, who later the same week would invited them to the unforgettable Persepolis celebrations. The bride, henceforth HRH Princess Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy (although known as Princess Marina of Savoy), Princess of Italy and Princess of Naples, wore an exclusive model of designer Valentino for the occasion.

The baptism of HRH The Prince of Venice, Emanuele Filiberto Umberto Reza Ciro René Maria, the son of TRH The Prince and Princess of Naples. The Prince was born in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 22nd June 1972 and apart of traditional Savoy names, he was given the name Reza, honouring HIM The Shah of Iran. The baptism, attended by HM King Umberto, who was one of the godfather, took place in the Chapel of Merlinge Castle, on the 22nd July 1972. The dress worn by the Prince was the same that had been worn by The Prince of Naples on the day of his own baptism.

After the death of King Umberto in 1983, the Prince assumed the Headship of the House of Savoy and began to use the ancient royal title of Duke of Savoy, although continuing to be publicly referred to by the title he was given on birth. The Princess of Naples here wears part of the splendid and historical diamond and topaz parure, inherited by Queen Margherita of Italy from her mother, Princess Elisabeth of Saxony, first Duchess of Genoa. The parure was a wedding present of Queen Maria Teresa of Sardinia to the wife of her second son, the Duke of Genoa.
