Word Order
Word order [Ref1A]
Bienséance Bokokugo sentence structure is based exclusively on word order and in
this follows the basic Japanese grammatical pattern, sans particles.
Disassociated material/interrogative words --- Subject --- Indirect object ---
Direct object ---Verb form --- Agreement-based idioms/Emphasis
Expressions of time typically come before expressions of place. Either of these
may
1) come before the subject
2) come right before the verb
Adjectives follow the verb they modify. When written, strings of adjectives and
their nouns are often hyphenated- Terrans tend to be verbosely descriptive, and
this avoids confusion. Demonstratives come before the word they are associated
with.
Demonstrative -- Noun -- Modifying nouns -- Adjectives -- Number
Adverbs may come before or after the noun they modify. Typically, they precede
negative verb forms, and proceed affirmatives, but this is not a strict rule of
construction.
Relative clauses always come before the words they modify, and adhere to the
same word order rules as full sentences within themselves
Dependant clauses come first in a sentence.
Interjections and terms of address, like names or “hey you” are typically
separated. Some Terrans include names in sentences by separating them with a
sound somewhat akin to “ae”, which is of Irish Gaelic derivation. Don’t confuse
it with “a”. Ae may also follow or precede forms of "please" (of which all
languages are acceptable).
