Esoteric interpretation of name: the solar wagon, and the chariot of Thór.
Ideographic interpretation: a wheel under the chariot. Half the solar wheel.
Raido is the cosmic law of right and archetypal order in the multiverse. This is seen in such natural phenomena as the daily path of the sun and the cycles of humanity and nature. This Rune is the mystery of divine law, manifest in both the multiverse and in humanity.
Raido came to symbolize organized religion, the ancient Germanic religion of Asatru. In ancient times the external, self-conscious order of religion was much less fixed because of the internal, unconscious, and instinctual order of holiness. This internal order found expression in institutions that were a balanced mix of religion, magick and politics. Today this Rune represents the "way back to right," through the conscious efforts of ásatruarfólk to reclaim the essence of the primal order.
This Rune stands for the correct order of the initiate's journey through the paths of the Nine Worlds of Yggdrasill.
Ascribe to Raido are good advice and judgment according to right.
Another important part of Raido's mystery is that of ritual; that is, the arrangement of energy and actions according to a cosmic order for a specific purpose. Here the emphasis is on the correct ordering of these energies.
Raido is the channeling of force in accordance with natural laws along the correct path leading to the correct result. It describes, and analyzes, a certain aspect necessary to the working of the laws of cause and effect.
The concept of rhythm and dance are also important aspects of Raido. This rhythm exists as a part of all of the worlds of the multiverse. It is through rhythmic action and ritual dance that the magician may perceive and blend with the rhythm of the Self, and then become one with the rhythm of the multiverse. This is the Rune of that rhythmic ritual dance which should still be practiced today.
Raido also finds expression in the idea of spiral development. This is according to the traditional ideology of the cycles of existence, ever in circles but always rising (or sinking) toward a goal - the point. Reaching this goal is not an end but a transformation and a new beginning for another journey towards growth.
In popular tradition Raido symbolizes the Vehmic Court, and as such it represents the deep indigenous religious laws of the folk who rule over those of the civil authority.

Stand upright, with your left arm bent at the elbow and your palm on your hipbone. Your left leg should be slanted out, lifted off the ground; your right arm should be tightly at your side. Face south.

Oracular Interpretation:
This Rune is concerned with communication, with the attunement of something that has two sides, two elements, and whether ultimate union that comes at the end of the journey, when what is above and what is below are united and of one mind.
Inner worth mounts here, and at such a time you are not intended to rely entirely upon your own power. Instead, ask what constitutes right action. Ask through prayer or meditation, through addressing the Witness Self, the Teacher Within. Once you are clear, you can neutralize your refusal to let right action flow through you. Not intent on movement, be content to wait; while you wait, keep on removing resistances. As the obstructions give way, all remorse arising from trying to make things happen disappears.
The journey is toward self-healing, self-change and union you are concerned here with nothing less than unobstructed, perfect union. but the union of Heaven and Earth cannot be forced. Regulate any excesses in your life. Material advantages must not weigh heavily on this journey of the self toward the Self. Stand apart even from like-minded others; the notion of strength in numbers does not apply at such a time, for this part of the journey - the soul's journey - cannot be shared.
Another of the Cycle Runes, Raido carries within its form the Rune of Joy, for now the end is in sight. You are no longer burdened by what you've left behind. Heaven above you and Earth below you unite within you to support you on your way.
A simple prayer for the soul’s journey is: I will to will Thy Will. Such a Prayer of Intention is proper on any occasion, and is particularly appropriate as a preamble to healing.

Receiving Raido Reversed puts you on notice to be particularly attentive to personal relationships. At this time, ruptures are more likely than reconciliation’s and effort may be required to keep your good humor. Whatever happens, how you respond is up to you.
The requirements for your growth may totally disrupt what you had intended. Desired outcomes may elude you. And yet what you regard as detours, inconveniences, disruptions, blockages and even failures and deaths, will actually be rerouting opportunities, with union and reunion as the only abiding destinations.
