Loved it=25
Hated it=10
It's ok=24

Well to me the ending was rather strange because it never really made sense to me. Cloud kicks Sephiroths ass inside his own mind, meteor brawls with holy and Marlene just doesn't have a clue whats going on. After 80 or so hours of anti-social life to beat the game and get everything and you are rewarded with the question ,why didnt holy or the planet do the same with the first meteor? I mean come on.... (-Pete Canning)

i was really dissapointed at the ending, i really thought that square could do better, as u said it left a lot of question marx. whaddabout heydegger and the turks what happene to them? ok there were som good effects but i really thought it would been better. i´m not even sure how it ended, is it red 13 whos running with his kids 500 years later, whadeva, the game was excellent and the end was comparing to the game kinda weak. (-Mikoby Van Pha)

It was great..I am going to Sephiroth all the time just for fighting him.I love the song wich is when he use the summon super nova... And I really like the ending movie.. (-Porka Turbo)

I loved this ending, it was the bet in any game. I can't understand why people were disappointed. A 12-minutes long CG, explicit enough, and they complain? Who complained about FF6's? Or FF4's? Not too many, and yet they completely sucked. Who cares about the Aeris, Marlene amd Sephiroth shots, Maco said. Well he's right his imagination is poor. What kind of ending did they expected? A marriage between Cloud and Tifa? Try to be more stereotyped. We don't need to see them return to their hometowns are begining a new life. People, didn't you just loved the scene with Red XIII and his cubs? No really, people shouldn't complain. That stuff about a marriage, new lives and all is good for fanfics, nothing more. In fact it could have ruined the whole ending. That one was flawless, period. The only things lacking were: Vincent and Yuffie. But they were optional. Let's not ask Square too much.... and the other is voices. But unless the voice acting is good it would not have been a good idea! FF7's ending haters, you are whinying for nothing. (-Morrigan Altahir)

The ending of FF7 to me, is very confusing, and "short" as well. It is confusing because of the scene of Aeris at the end, which I interpret to mean that Holy reset everything. Why wasn't everything reset before? And what was the use of the lifestream coming out of the earth to stop meteor if Holy could've been cast either way? The ending is "short" because it spent half the time showing the lifestream move out of the ground, covering the entire world. Another part of the ending I felt was just used to waste time was how Sephiroth's lifestream SLOWLY surrounded Cloud, and then disappeared, which made no sense at all. After making you wait 10 minutes through the cast, they let you see the FMV of Red XIII running...Why are there the marks and numbers on Red XIII if the experiments had never been done? To me, the FMV of the weapons awakening was cooler and more fulfilling than the ending. However, my cat was meowing through the entire ending, so parts of the music of the ending and my focus on what was happening was knocked off, so that may be the cause of my thoughts on this ending. All in all, the ending was a complete disaster, and with the confusing storyline of three million Sephiroths, it was hard to understand and also didn't sound completely finished as well. (-Force)

It was okay. Really good graphics and obvious effort. However, can you say it was a little unfinished? uh yeah. I mean, great. The life stream saves the world but what about cloud and everyone? What ever happened to them? Did Marlene survive? I think square could've put some more info. in it. You play the game for so long and than at the end it's like, " Thats it?" What about the story? It's not over. Wheres the conclusion??? They end it right at the climax and expect you to decide the ending. I think it was alright but, at the same time, it was lame. (-Jemini215)

I worked all through three discs 4 that???!!! what a load of $^*t! I will say the game itself ruled all, but the ending wasn'nt rewarding enouph!! (-Defire)

After all that hype, i thought the ending sucked. one, it was too short. second, what happens next? and third, it just kind of stops. all that time and effort put into the game and that kind of ending. thumbs down (-Chris Stelzer)

Final Fantasy seven was a masterpiece. i only finished it with the help of tips and hints. Aerith's death was unexpected to me but isn't that what make stories great?... The unexpected. We cannot always expect that just because she's a good guy (and an Ancient) doesn't mean that she has to live. There would be no story in the first place if she didn't die. If all good guys were to live at the end, then the story would be totally bogus. The creators are probably sending a message that in reality, winning has its sacrifices. That's how I interpret the game. I give it 2 thumbs up... if i got a 3rd thumb... i'll give it 3 thumbs up. (-Ian Luck Sipin)

It sucked more than anything has sucked before they should have showed what happened to all the characters like cloud and tifa maybe in love finally. (-Chris Sachenbacher)

I didn't care for the ending much. I liked every one saw aeris again but I don't understand if the life stream joined with holy stopped meteor or it killed all life. I would have holy stop meteor and Cloud and Tifa get married (-Gary Ellis)

I personally thought the ending was great except for the very last part where Aeris looked up with lifestream flowing around her. (-Kain)

For all the work and time i put into the game, the ending kind of disappointed me. I mean, it took an hour just to beat the last bosses. I also expected like a 30-1hr. long ending(without the credits). I expected to get at least most of my questions answered. Sure, I can see that it was a good, happy ending and all but what about Aeris? She was obviously still alive within the Lifestream. What happened to her? Did she finally totally join it after she stops meteor? and why didn't the planet stop the 1st meteor? To make it better, i would have made the ending more unexpected, maybe by making Sephiroth have a change of heart after he gets his butt wooped by Cloud. Then he would use his powers, with help from Aeris and the planet, to stop meteor. Or just have meteor crush his cripple butt (after Cloud gets done with him), ironic i think. My thoughts may be dumb but it's better than watching the planet take forever just to gather energy to stop a rock. (-Ace V.)

The ending was alright and all but they should of expressed the ending scene better. I had to realy figure out what it ment. But if I rewrote I would have explained it better by telling them that once Areis's prayer for holy came through, all the people were experianceing the promiseland. (-???)

I personally thought that while the ending was vague, it was good. I mean the part with Aries looking into the bubbles(lifestream?) kind pointed that it(life)began again. And then Nanaki running with his cubs shows that the heroes obviously survived, I mean he was with them all on the Highwind, so I really thought it was a good ending, that leaves me thirsty foe FF8!! (-Michael Bowsher Jr.)

I thought it was a little lame.Vincent and Yuffie were not there.I would have made it the ending talk. Also,it should have been longer. (-Raganok)

well, about the ending, instead of lights coming out of sephiroth, and doing whatever, i think he should have fallen to the ground, and said,"cloud..." and then died. then, meteor should have destroyed midgar, and marline should have died... that would have been awesome. (-Cait Sith)

The ending was really disapointing. For that long a game the ending was really short and there wasn't much in it besides holy stopping meteor. There should have been a little part about each character, like Cid fixing the fixing the Tiny Bronco or something. (-Mark Payne)

i thinkl it was a bit OK.but it was very confusing and it made more qestions than it answered. i expected a ca.30-60min ending(without ctredits) i think, all in all, that it was a bit dissapointing. (-Adam Tumidajewicz)

Well from what i heard the ending was suppossed to be different. I heard squaresoft was so rushed to get the american version out that they didnt put the aeris resurection portion in it. It could easily be a rumor though. Over all. the graphix were amazing and it was kinda sad that it was over. hopefully theyll release ff8 in america. but i dont think they could afford not to. (-Barry Hudson)

I thought the ending was o.k but I think it did raise more questions than it answered. And at the end where it started playing music it's like is that it or do you have to wait and is there more it doesn't say the end or anything just keeps playing the music over and over again.I also wished they would have showed what happened to the caracters, I reseted the game and started from the beginning 3 times just to get to it and that's how they ended it, but it was still worth it I guess. (-Colby Jimmo)

I thought the ending was spell-binding. I can't believe all the morons who complained and couldn't grasp the ending with their tiny miniscule minds. I mean come on use your heads Cloud and the gang did everything they said they would and accomplished it. Cloud killed Sephiroth he saved the planet put an end to the Mako Reactors and although Diamond Weapon did it, took care of Rufus and Shinra once and for all. It was their f#@*! goal and their soul purposes for going on their incredible journey. Who cares what happened with Cloud and Tifa it would blow if you saw them all in an old age home. Aeris did die but it was for the sake of the planet besides the whole story revolves around it. People please I'm sure if you replayed the game you would see my point to it's fullest. In closing I thought Square did a magnificent job on this game and the message most certainly can't be seen by the weak minded fools who play shooters and other simple minded games. (-Garret Cutter)

I LOVED the ending! It was so cool how Holy and the Lifestream stopped the meteor. Marlene was cute and I loved the graphics. I thought the part when Red XIII was running with his cubs was cute. I also liked how they showed Aeris and how Cloud killed Sephiroth with Omnislash even if you didn't have it. I thought it was long enough and it was the best ending to any game I have ever played! :-) (-Aeris)

MARLENE SUCKS!!!!!! -???

I hated it you fight your way pass 3 cds & and kill millons of sephiroth thingys and you get a 12 minute crappy little cg when you hack sephiroth in 15 little peices and watch the lifestream catch a big rock over midjor it sucked!!!! what about vincent and yuffie. Vincent was the one who killed safer sephiroth and you don't even see him!!! and what happened the the turks and cloud and weapon(s) and the mako reacter and shinra all the rest all rest. it leaves you hanging! (-Damien)

I really like how they didn't tell what happened to all the characters. That is the kind of thing that should be left to the imagination. We don't need the whole soap opera of Cloud and Tifa together; in my personal opinion, they weren't right for each other! Hell, I woulda rather seen Cloud get with Red XII!!! But one unique view on this that I have come up with very efficiently finalizes the story. Holy, and the lifestream, resurrected Aeris. I mean, it makes sense. She was always talking about how the Cetra would one day return to the promised land, and what if not that did earth become? Seeing Midgar overgrown, the planet beautiful once again, I mean, it BECAME the promised land! And Holy & the Lifestream brought back not only Aeris, but all the Cetra! IT MAKES SENSE!!!!!!! (-Michael Jason Maxey)

don't know cause i never beat it (-Joe Hagar)

Well, form the looks of it, everyone was killed so the game was pointless. The only thing I saw out of the whole thing was that you saved the planet, and helped and new life form (your dead so it does not matter to much). (-Colt)

I'm very disappointed at Square ! The ending is pretty lame and unfinish . It created even more questions ! What happened to the Planet ? To the characters ? And why did it showed Aeris looking up in the lifestream ? It's just weird . And is it Midgar Red VIII and his cubs looked at 500 hundred years later ? I thought it was the Ancient Forest at first but then I sawed the signs .... well anyway I don't like the ending . Oh yea , I need same ADVANCE tips and hints on beating the god damn Weapons !!!!!!!!! ( Emerald Ruby ) Damn I beat the game twice but I still can't distroy them !!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! HELP ME !!!!!! (-Shadow)

Anyone who doesn't like the story, don't gripe about it. It has an exellent ending, kinda cheesy, but good. Anyone who hates aeris' death, I'm glad they killed her off. She was one of my favorite characters, but it clearly adds to the story. So get over it. FF7 ranks my third fav RPG after FF2 american and Lufia 2 (oh, and Mana and Chrono). I hope more RPGs come out with as good or better graphics, but not without giving up coolplots. My problem with FF7: re-playability. After winning and getting all items, it's pointless. Oh well, I can still play FF2 over and over again. And finally, for any player; don't use Knights... EVER! You can kill both sephiroths with one KotR each, and Weapons are easy. Try killing Emerald Weapon without any summons; it's easier than you think (I killed him without any, only using ultima and regular weapons.) Thanx, and have fun. (-Nathan J. Day)

I think at the end when clowd fell & tifa caught his hand I think that should have been Aries saving him(you know like she came back to life) (-Darrell Hoodgeels)

I think the graphics were ok and all, but I dont think games should be based on only good graphics...the ending could use some work (not that Square really gives a @#*!) overall I didnt think it was that good... (-Jermey Bryan)

I LOVED the ending! The graphics were absolutly breathtaking and Aeris saving the planet-it was great! Showing where Marlene was(Kalm) was a stroke of genious. I thought the ending was FANTASTIC!! (-Johnny)

Well like maco144 said instead of tifa falling in love with cloud and getting in a couple with cloud, tifa could have married reeve instead(not reno!)and cloud died and met up with aeris in the lifestream. And all the party would meet up (with vincent and yuffie)but vincent and yuffie would marrie eachother and redX111 would be with a female redx111 . and instead of cait sith being shot up in a cannon, cait sith would be with a female mog&cat controlled by tifa! And like i said,Aeris would be with cloud, and guess what !Sephiroth would have stop boggling up his mind and join the party to stop meteor, and Sephiroth would marrie the beloved Elena form the turks(because when you get them they don't die, they just call it a day!)And all the rest of those turkeys would just die and become people like aeris and cloud in the lifestream. And that is all of it,That is what you haters worked for!Instead of a little crappy 12 minute litlle ending! And i am a little nine year old beatin' a game like this! (-Billy Harrison)

the ending was ok i could have been better but it was still good but they should have told you wheter our not human's survive pepole say they do becuse of kids makeing noise in the back but how do they no its not red 13's kids i hope 8's end is better but 7's left to many gaps bye for now (-Troy)

Umm, the ending was great in terms of the graphics... i only liked the first part of the ending, not the "500 years later " part; that was kinda odd.

Of course, being an Aeris fan, if she was alive, I'd hope for her and Cloud to be together in the end(Tifa fans would hate me for this). As for Tifa, ummm, she could have met with someone else, doesn't necessarily have to be with an Avalanche member. Everyone gets reunited with their loved ones, and maybe they have one last group function(?) before going their separate ways. (-Haozheng)

Frankly, I thought the ending was good. Everybody thinks that Cloud & Tifa should have gotten married...THAT WOULD SUCK!!!!!! Anyways, the 12 minute CG thing was da' bomb, except that it didn't have Vincent. That was the best ending I ever saw in an RPG. (-Sedator)

The ending was not that hard to understand.Nobody but the people in Midger died. The people in the Highwind obviosly did not die because Red XIII was alive 500 years in the future.I personally liked to see Aeris considering I hadn't seen her since she died and she was my favorite character. I am thrilled that they didn't show what they all did afterwards. Tifa and Cloud probably would have gotten married. That, in my opinion, would be horrible because I liked Cloud and Aeris together. In all I really liked the ending because they showed Marlene, let Cloud kill Sepheroth, showed Red XIII and his babies and showed Aeris. (-Elena the Turk)

um...about that ending Cody wrote....psyco....i mean come on...cloud killing him self? no...that would've sucked and been totally gay...i mean hello? the main character killing himself? and besides that Aeris returned to the lifestream, her soul is mixed with like the rest of the worlds souls becoming a totally different and new soul...thats why theres no gost... but its original and puts a twist to the game witch is cool (-Joe Latzo)

thought it was pretty visually stunning and all. It was nice to see the forces of nature toppling that Shin-ra building.

But here's what I have to say about that fanfic ending.

Aeris and Cloud were not meant to be. That would be more of a wham-bam-thank-you-mam sort of thing. Aeris was all over Cloud but Tifa was the one that really knew Cloud. She was the one that needed him and he needed her whether he knew it or not. That scene where everyone leaves before the major battle was very refreshing in a way. That summon supernova spell was just godsend. I didn't know what the frunk was happening and then all these planets started to blow up. Cool stuff! Plus, this was right after I had seen Deep Impact the night before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did anyone else think this game was rather easy compared to other FF's?

1st one was really hard. 2nd one I remember the evil wall being the hardest thing I fought. 3rd one had that tower of the magi that was a pain in the butt. but this one... jeez, the only time I got that heart pounding feeling was in the Battle Arena!!!!!!! That was cool, but still, that's all it was. These games are changing. There are no longer 6 DIFFERENT characters. They are all just the same anymroe. I liked it when I could classify ONE character as a fighter, another as a white mage, another as a blakc mage, and then item users or something. Now everyone can have the same spells and abilities. Sigh. BUt this game rocked!!!!!!!! YAY! the end. (-AL()ENATOR)

I would just like to say that I think Square did a great job with the whole thing. The ending was maybe not the absolute BEST that it could have been, but COME ON!! To all you people complaining that you were expecting a 30-60 FMV, GET REAL. Do you have any IDEA how much room it would take to store a 30-60 min FMV? They'd probably have to add a fourth CD just for the ending. And besides that, I'm not sure I'd want it to be that long. It'd probably get boring. I mean, what are they gonna do for 30-60 mins?

Anyway, I thought it was a good ending. It wasn't very confusing at all. Meteor approaches the planet, Holy shows up, fails, and just when you think everything's lost, the lifestream saves the day. And the part with Aeris was cool. ANYWAY, :P to all you whining complaining ending haters. (-Windex)

I kind of loved it but I would of wanted to see Aeris and Clound...etc again. Because all I can see is Red XIII's ending u' know... 500 years ago... But I am 1200% Final Fantasy (VII) fan...... I think your site is great (->Jokke<)

Hm.... I thought that the 30 minute movie was a fine reward for slashing Sephiroth... but actually I just wanted to listen to One-Winged Angel when I killed the "#¤#"%¤%& bastard! And the ending actually gave me more questions than answers. How come Aeris saved the day all of a sudden??? How come Cloud doesn´t do one sane thing in his stupid life and marry Tifa instead? AND WHY THE HELL DO I HAVE TO SEE AERIS`S HAND REACHING OUT FOR CLOUD??? I GET SAD WHEN I SEE THOSE THINGS!!! SQUARE? DO YOU HEAR ME??? MAKE A NEW GAME!! (-Fredrik Häthén)

I sort of like it because I don't know what the f*@% that white flash is. The rest is good. (-Brian Lee)

I am one to really appreciate the hard work that they put into the game, but the ending truly was unfinished. I like how Cloud killed Sephiroth with the Omnislash, but that part with Aeris at the end made me mad. I thought that she would've came back to join in the fight with Sephiroth. That would've rocked. But, she gave us the shaft. Red 13 and his little ( bears, or whatever they are ) was a nice added touch, and the Midgar overgrown with greenery was really cool too. Heiddegger and Palmer really pissed me off. They sucked, but Rufus shouldn't died. He was pretty cool. (-Special K.)

In fact, to be totally impartial, I think people are just unhappy cuz they don't get what they want. It's just like the girl you could never get is the best one in your memory. You'll always remember that girl, right? Cloud said it clearly when he fell into Lifestream with Tifa: he liked Tifa since his childhood. He went to save her when Sephiroth killed Zack. Why gamers just want Aeris and Cloud to be together? Cuz we chose to make Cloud nice to Aeris after they met and it's like a courtship...true role-playing and everyone fell into the role--perhaps too deeply. I love Aeris and was almost to my tears (i'm a guy, and boys don't cry, heh?) when Aeris died. It's not that I hold anything against her. A story is a story. Then it gets to the point of Aeris saving the planet. She's an ancient and she could communicate with the planet. I think she was told by the planet that the power of Holy alone couldn't stop the meteor. That's why she chose to die (yes, she CHOSE to) and merge with the life-stream. And that was how meteor was stopped at the end: the combined power of Holy and the Life-stream. She made the sacrifice and it worked. Simple as that. When she looked up at the end, didn't you see the smile and the hope she wore on her face? She realized it. Cloud realized it too. Why you guys don't? As for the questions, yes, the planet was saved. All the heroes/heroines on Highwind was saved, otherwise Red XIII wouldn't have survived. I'm sure Aeris loved Cloud...but she transformed it into a greater love...a greater love for all the lives. As for Cloud and Tifa, I'm sure they'd be together. At least Tifa would always stay with him. She said that, didn't she? Just my opinions...thanks for reading my babblings. (-The City Hunter)

I dont know about you, but that was the best 12 min cg that i have ever seen in any ending to any rpg! The game itself is the best game that i have ever played! (-Flannel Man)

I cant´t say much about it......................... ......I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 (-joel fahlberg)

The FFVII Ending is the best I have ever seen......graphics wise. Unfortunatly there were too many questions unanswered and new ones raised. I understood most of it apart from the very last bit when you see Aeris look up, that part was from the beginning of the game. Some people say holy reset the timeline but that would suck because then there would be a continous time loop, (anyway you see RedXII and cubs running around 500 years later) People lso say that Midgar gets destroyed, duh, did they see that last bit Midgar was severly damaged but if meteor had hit the ground there would be an almighty crater. I would like to have known what happened to the characters afterwards (and no, Tifa and Cloud would never had gotten married :). Maybe after the game is releaed on the PC more people will ask the same questions as PSX users and Square will finally respond to us all. They might also finally reveal all the details since they will not spoil it for anyone who was going to buy it for a new system (maybe they ain't saying anything about the game because they don't want to spoil it for the ppl who are going to buy it for the PC) (-Sentient)

I thought the ending sucked but the graphics were good and it was fun to watch. But come on it was uwful for what it took to beat it. at least it could have shown what happened to the group. did barret get marlene? what happened with tifa and cloud who seemed to be in love?what about cid and shera? what happened to reeve?I think it would have been nice to end a great game with an ending just as great. i do not see howw anyone could be satisfied with all the work you put into it. it didn't even show what happened with characters which is what i wanted to find out!!! And most of all.... who the F%$&&*!! did red xiii have kids with!!!!!!(him being the last of his kind) (-Rob Thomas)

I loved the ending mainly due to the superb graphics and music. Of course, there were the questions.... I think the answer is something YOU have to derive from the ending movie. Lots of people saw Pulp Fiction, myself included, and i didnt really "get" the movie until i realized the movies "starts" in the middle, ends THEN goes tot the beginning. That's what i think happend in the FF7 ending, more or less. You start with aerith and you end with aerith. What if the whole shabang was just the planet talking to her? What if the whole story was fabricated by Cloud's mixed up mind? Here's one way to look at it: Aerith begins the whole game by summoning Holy... the 80+ story unfolds in aerith's imagination/ premonition... Holy works its magic and the world is saved, Aerith's vision/ premonition ends and everything's honkey dorie. 500 years later, a wise old lion/creature thing shows his cubs that all things begin and end with the planet. Does anyone catch what im saying? ! Probably not, but then again..... ( -starfirezealot)

I thought the ending was alright, but it seemed incomplete and a little short. Definitely not the best Squaresoft could have done with it. Of course, the graphics were great (the best yet), but there didn't seem to be much of a resolution in the story. They should have put in individual sections for each character, including Vincent and Yuffie if you got them, like in FFIII and maybe add a little something on Aeris. (-Hollis Lau)

That is the biggest bunch of bull shit i have ever heard!! Ortega or whatever that @@@@@@!#@#@$%%**&)(*)^T^&$ name was has no imagination or taste !! His ending was the worst idea since the Shaq fu, color a dinosaur, and bebe's kids videogames for SNES.LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! (-Scott Orr)
