AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR RELICS


 

An American Revolutionary War musket ball from a British encampment near the Saratoga battlefield, in New York. An American Army, of about 7,000 troops, under the command of General Horatio Gates, and a British army, of about 7,000 troops, under the command of General John Burgoyne, fought two major engagements, here, on September 19th and October 7th, in 1777, which resulted in the British army surrendering 5,791 troops and 35 cannons, on October 17th. American troops suffered about 500 causalities in both engagements and British troops, which included Loyalists, Germans, Canadians, and Indians, suffered about 1,200 causalities in both engagements.

An American Revolutionary War 2-pounder cannonball from the same British encampment near the Saratoga battlefield. The 2-pounder cannon was the smallest standard artillery piece of the American Revolutionary War.
