I had developed an interest in dealing with vertigo cases and procured a 2 channel ENG recorder and started working with vertigo cases from 1993 & have over 200 cases on record.
I do Glycerol dehydration test when
indicated. I have a few cases of otosclerosis with endolymphatic hydrops on
record. I have a good collection of Meniere's. Have done a few sac
decompressions and labyrinthectomy operations. As per my observations, the incidence of peripheral lesions is higher than that of central lesions. Most of the people expect to demonstrate an organic SOL on investigations in the case of central lesion but don't understand that it is a II order neuronal problem and that ENG is an electrophysiological study. The incidence of BPPV is also not too high in my study. Most of the vertigo cases can be manage conservatively
and with exercises. |
