Dragon Poems

To Be A Dragon

To be a Dragon is a mighty thing
To have the power within your soul
To have the knowledge of that power
To have the Wisdom to use that power wisely
To be a Dragon is a flighty thing
To have the ability to play and have fun
To have the knowledge of that ability
To have the Wisdom to use that ability wisely

To be a Dragon is a weighty thing
To have the responsibility of judgment
To have the knowledge of that responsibility
To have the Wisdom to use that responsibility wisely

To be a Dragon is ultimately a path
To be able to soar upon wings of imagination
To be able to learn and continue learning
To be able to gain Wisdom with one's seeking

Dragonflight

In this land of eternal snow
Where no trees will ever grow
High up in the mist gray sky
I can see the Dragons fly

Flying through a single cloud
Swooping, turning roundabout
Totally ignoring me
Golden Dragons, flying free

Rushing towards me, coming fast
Then slowing at the very last
Wingtips brushing past my hair
Dragons flying without care.

Watching them with great delight
Marveling at this wondrous sight
I join the Dragons with my mind
Soaring high with all their kind

Minds entwined, reaching heights
Sharing the rapture of their flights
Leaving behind the human me
No longer earthbound…..

I am flying free!

Dragon Call

Some great beast came down to me
And truth did he outpour.
A story that most see as myth
From ancient days of yore.
Though they are great and fierce in sight
The dragon is still tame.
And the gentle nature of the beast
Bears no reverence to it's name.
Father Dragon is a mighty one,
Who could be friend or foe.
But our mind is prejudice
To what it does not know.
Guardians born into the night,
They'll forever be.
Standing atop a mountain, perched,
Watching over you and me.
Into the sky they do fly,
With grace pulled from the night.
And soar like angels through the air,
Projecting heavenly light.
But still we fear the gentle one,
Father Dragon told me so.
For our fear leads us to hate
The things we do not know.
But my eyes have seen the truth,
So, I tell you all.
Do not fear your guardian,
Instead..., Head the Dragon's Call
