She learned betrayal from Fifth. Fifth learned betrayal from her. It was an endless mantra that ran through Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter’s head. Despite assurances from both Teal’c and General O’Neill, she felt responsible for the situation they were now in. It was her idea to study her replicator copy to attempt to gain intelligence on Fifth and the other replicators. It was her idea to use the replicator to try and come up with a way to counter the “immunity” Fifth made against the only weapon they had against the replicators. She was the one who gave her replicator copy the access to the schematics of the weapon. She was the one who made the mistake of trusting the replicator. How could she think that it was not her fault? Sure, Fifth had been destroyed, but that was her copy’s doing, not theirs. And, thanks to her, the replicators led by her copy were immune to the only weapon they ever had against the replicators. And the replicators were in their galaxy, and with the advanced technology that the Goa’uld had, there was no chance that the replicators were about to leave. An army of replicators led by a copy of her, with her memories, and her thought processes, were loose in their galaxy; ready to consume and replicate, and now unstoppable. And if she had left well enough alone, and had let the replicator be destroyed as soon as she came through the Stargate; none of this would have happened. Who was the betrayer now? |
