History

Kain Killian grew up on Corellia in the same neighborhood as Han Solo. His closest neighbors were a family of Rodians called the Nibleks who owned a local restaurant and an old inventor who specialized in robotics, engines, and weaponry. Kain’s father was a mercenary in the employ of Jabba the Hutt until the Imperial Governor decided to clean out the slums and deport the inhabitants to the spice mines of Kessel. Kain’s father died fighting off Imperial Stormtroopers and his mother died while buying time for Kain and his sister Marron to escape through the sewers. The next morning their Rodian neighbors found them hiding in a storm drain. The Hutts had paid off the governor in order to keep the valuable shipyards, talented smugglers, and other illegal activities running. The Rodians took in the ten year old Kain and his four year old sister in the memory of their parents who had always helped their neighbors. While the mother HaChek taught his sister Kain was left to explore the surrounding slums. He spent many hours helping the old inventor next door, or practicing shooting with the smugglers. At other times he took to pickpocketing rich merchants who came through the slums for less that honorable activities. Eventually he became an informant for the Hutts and gathered information on Imperial activities and other things. As his strength and skill grew the Hutts began to employ him in the usual mercenary making him guard various bases throughout the city. It wasn’t until he was sixteen that he was considered good enough to take off-planet for work. In a tearful goodbye with his now ten-year-old sister that he went off to a smuggler’s outpost near Kessel and ran into Han there though they had not seen each other in years. It was then that Imperial cruisers attacked and destroyed the base and Kain escaped with Han. Han left him in Mos Eisley where Kain quickly found work as a freelance mercenary guarding dignitaries, blowing up this building, killing this person, fighting this gang, and other typical mercenary jobs. When the Imperial troops landed looking for droids and killed two of Kain’s close friends that Kain joined the rebel alliance as a special operative due to his experience with many forms of combat. After fighting his way through several random missions of differing importance Kain volunteered to join his old acquaintance Solo on the most dangerous portion of the second Death Star, one of the landing party for the Endor moon. Chewie was glad to see him though Han’s mind was elsewhere with the coming battle. During the fight an AT-ST stepped on Kain’s arm and crushed every bone to nearly powder. A compassionate Ewok chopped off the dead arm and bandaged him up. As his payment for undertaking the dangerous mission he took a new model fighter called an E-Wing and modified it so that he and his new friend, the Ewok Grizzle who had saved his life could travel comfortably. As well as created a cybernetic arm and added a remote device to call his astromech droid in his fighter. Using his new weapons, his good friend, and his new contacts in the New Republic and the underground he continued to be a freelance mercenary, though he was known for never turning his back on a deal. He and Grizzle learned an interesting way of communication through Grizzle’s strange ability of telepathy. The images that Grizzle projected into Kain’s brain became words in Basic that Kain could understand. Throughout this time Kain kept in close contact with his sister and her guardians. He sent her money he earned by taking jobs from Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Talon Karrde. As he currently does.
