Ancient Words

The Heart of Ages Passed

Perhaps I’m just a fool for romance.

Perhaps these words of comfort aren’t quite real.

Just because I am the heart of ages passed,

Doesn’t mean that I’m not allowed to feel!

I live alone and dwell in darkness.

The light of day can never reach my home.

But just because I am the heart of ages passed,

I guess that means that I am never alone.

Bear down the corpse of things not yet to be,

A knight can only fight so long alone.

Tear down the tapestry of things not meant for me,

I’ve only got a few more miles to go.

Call me Angel; call me Sinner; it’s all the same.

There’s nothing left in this bumble-fuck place to do.

Just because I am the heart of ages passed,

Don’t mean I can save this world from the likes of you.

Place your blame but only blame it on yourself.

Your bitterness is my inevitable shame.

Blame it on the heart of ages passed,

But point no fingers when you forget my name.

Bear down the corpse of things not yet to be,

A knight can only fight so long alone.

Tear down the tapestry of things not meant for me,

I’ve only got a few more miles to go.
