Prologue

During the war known as the Great Conflict, the greatest
wizards and sorcerers came together in Coven to decide the
outcome of the war. For thousands of years, confrontation was
resolved this way. But this was no ordinary war. The Goddess of
Good, Anisalynn; and the God of Evil, Xanitar suddenly
disappeared from the Heavens, and the Coven was stripped of
control, and the magics that were once controlled by a select
few ran rampant throughout the land. Many died, many
disappeared, but for every disappearance there was an appearance
of a replacement. Nobody knew from whence these came, and many
were burned for witchcraft. It was a select few that survived,
and gradually got used to life in Corivaan, outsiders always,
but very much a part of day to day life.
At the end of the Great Conflict, the mightiest of the
dragons, Talizar, and her mate, Tyran, seized control of the
majority of the realm. Only one bastion remained uncontrolled by
their tyranny; the human city of Tir Locke in the southern
portion of Corivaan held strong in the last battle between the
dragons, their minions and the four races: Elves, Humans,
Dwarves, and Faeries.
When the war ended, an uneasy peace was agreed upon by the
four races and the dragons, and many believed their troubles to
be over. But the dragons still controlled the majority of
Corivaan.
And the Legion of Anisalynn (called at the end of the war
the Legion of Locke) that was formed at the onset of the Great
Conflict by the founder of Tir Locke, Reghet Locke, became the
protector of the free lands, and the one hope that remained to
overthrow the dragons. For though peace reigned supreme in the
hearts and minds of the citizenry, the dragons plotted the
destruction of the Legion, just as the Legion plotted the
destruction of the dragons.
And then, five years after the Great Conflict...
