Writings on the Wall

10 Minutes TIll

I’ve got 10 minutes till, and the clock just stands still.

I’ve been waiting all this time, so I wrote you this rhyme.

Still don’t know what to say, when and if you come my way.

So I’ll write you this song, and pray you won’t be long...

I woke up real late

and I found her old letters,

and had to contemplate,

where exactly I would send her.

The words that she wrote

were all epic endeavors.

So I have just one thing to say.

I wrote it all out

on a late-night Perkin’s napkin,

and tried to explain

what exactly ought to happen.

But the words they all died

like the last Titan, the Kraken.

And I just don’t know what to say.

I’ve got 7 minutes till, and the clock just stands still.

And I’m just killing time, by writing out this rhyme.

Still don’t know what to say, but I’m writing anyway,

and I’m sure something real will come out of this deal.

I spoke with you,

on a stolen moment’s notice.

And blasphemed the truth

in a blazing loss of focus.

And I still don’t know

if you’re gonna’ show up to read this,

So I just have one thing to say.

I searched for the right

in a mindless sea of song,

and I know that my hindsight

has yet to be wrong.

I know that you hate this,

but I just don’t belong.

So say what you’re going to say.

I’ve got 3 minutes till, and the clock just stands still.

And I’m just biding my time, and suffering through these rhymes.

And while I know it’s all right, I’m sorry for last night.

Though I know what you’ll say, you love me anyway.

I have loved you,

from the start.

And I can say you,

stole my heart.

You know what they say, “All things must part...”

But I must be true

to my heart.

I’ve got 1 minute till, and the clock just stands still.

And I’m watching the time, wondering if you’re still mine.

So I look hereabout as your time is running out.

And see that you’re walking my way...
