The d20's explosion
The TSR company folded finally in the end of the 90's and D&D was bought by Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) which in turn was bought by the gaming giant Hasbro. Recently the third edition of the venerable D&D rules were released. Making the rules very video game in completeness and feel, the system became somewhat open source with what was called the d20 System. Suddenly a ton of product came out. These game books were made by anyone who could find some money to print their own modules, rules, and/or worlds. Another glut of gaming material invaded the market and the genre has once again slowed down.
