The Emerald Tablet of Hermes

The following are two of my favourite versions of the famous text called the Tabula Smaragdina or The Emerald Tablet of Hermes. This is a fundamental text of Hermetic Alchemy. In order to give you a bit more of a background on Hermetic Alchemy, I have recorded a video that goes into some detail on the relationship between the occult elements in the alchemical process. Once I understood this basic concept it has had a profound impact on my practice.

Balinas mentions the engraving on the table in the hand of Hermes, which says: Truth! Certainty! That in which there is no doubt! That which is above is from that which is below, and that which is below is from that which is above, working the miracles of one. As all things were from one. Its father is the Sun and its mother the Moon. The Earth carried it in her belly, and the Wind nourished it in her belly, as Earth which shall become Fire. Feed the Earth from that which is subtle, with the greatest power. It ascends from the earth to the heaven and becomes ruler over that which is above and that which is below. And I have already explained the meaning of the whole of this in two of these books of mine.

This is is the sum total of the work of the Sun.

Trump 1 - The Magician

One method of learning the Tarot is to colour your own set of images. Read an article about this here. Throughout this site are all 22 images that you can save to your computer and print out for colouring. Just right-click on the image and select "Save Image."
