Herb Christian's Rebel Modifications

My name is Herb from SC and one of the guys at Jack's helped me with some used floorboards that he said that came off an older Goldwing!! They were originally passenger boards made by a company named "Markland". I told Jack they should list them on their site and he is checking availablity. These boards worked great by mounting them in the front bolt on the foot peg bracket. They worked perfect, did not have to do any modifications at all. After a little trial and error I found if you remove the front bolt on the bracket that holds original pegs and use this bolt to mount boards it works perfectly. These were a used set off an older Wing so I don't know the number but am sure if you contacted Jack they could tell you which style or year they came off of, use my name as reference if you like. These boards work great, bolt on perfect, adds a classy look to bike, they do stick out about 1 1/2 inches farther than the pegs which to me is a good thing, being a disabled driver. Talk to the people at Jacks and I'm sure someone can tell you where to get them.

By the way guys I have bought several items from Jack for my 99 rebel 250 and they were great! I received things promptly and his staff was very helpful. They have a very happy customer with me! I am a disabled rider (right leg amputee) and the guys at Jacks really answered some tough questions for me.
Thanks guys

UPDATE: I think I have solved my problem, if you remember the GW floorboards I put on my bike. They worked great but were a lot wider than the pegs, I found when I stopped they were kinda in the way of getting my bad leg down. I got a piece of 2"x1'4" flat bar and made a new bracket moving the boards forward about 6", this gave me the ability to slide my foot off the back of the boards and not straddle it. Still got to adjust my shifter linkage a little to conpensate for the new position. This actually is a kinda of modified version of forward controls without extending shifter arm or brake pedal. Now I think I will be ok with a 2 wheeler I kinda felt like a 3 wheeler was kind of a sissy way out. I would no longer be able to lean into a curve and for me thats a lot of the fun in riding to start with.

Thanks guys for your help, I think problem is solved.

Hey guys - I just ordered a pro-tac backrest and installed it today, only one problem!!!
Should have done this ages ago!!!
Already don't know how I have been able to manage without one of these backrests.
I have a habit of spending money on my Rebel, this I think is the best money I have spent...

Having a few years ago had back surgery it left my lower back a little weak.
After a pretty long ride it would ache for days.
When I installed this today I planned to ride around the block to see how it felt,
it felt so good I rode like 30 miles!!!
The neat feature the way it is made if you wanna ride 2 up it just pulls right off - no bolts to loosen.
Believe me I think this is great especially for you guys that take some long journeys.

Also installed a Mini Luggage rack from Jack's, cost $69.00,
adds a little more chrome to Rebel and gives a good touch I think.
The only problem now is I'm running out of accessories for a Rebel and one got any ideas??
Do plan to add fog lamps as BA Bailey did,
I really think his Rebel looked cool with his idea on these.

I gotta say since I have had my bike I have been using Jack's for parts and acessories. It is always a very pleasant experience!!!! I have talked to Jack himself, and at other times other people there at Jack's, and all are great to deal with. Jack gives that personal touch which no longer exists in most business today. My 2 cents worth amounts to this: If you want a knowlegable, curtious and good experience Jack's has been my choice and will continue to be as long as I'm able to twist my grips. Rest assured I own no stock in Jack's business (lol) its just I have been impressed and want to past it on to other Reb riders. So often you hear so much about a company that makes a screw up but not allot about a company that gets it right. My hats off to you Jack keep it up!!!!
