![]() | Set in the depths of the Abysmal Plains, The Pit was once not much more then a hole where those who failed The Prince of Darkness in their line of work. Over time, the pit was more refined, first with the addition of walls and guards to keep the poor souls from escaping, and then stocked with many large flesh eating things to make sure that anything thrown in was promply ripped to shreds. Soon, a building was built over the pit itself, and it was developed into a many layered Arena where the Army of Darkness could come to engage in combat for honor and rank, as well as unfortunates to be killed in the old Gladiator style. Indeed, a fun place. The sign you can hardly read, because I did it by hand and very badly. But it reads 'Abandon All Hope'. |
![]() | Here we have the earth arena, fashioned to replicate a cave scene with a little stream running through it for no reason other then to piss someone off who steps in the water while they're trying not to get chopped up. You'll notice that while the theme of each arena changes, the seats remain a constant. One big throne thing for the devil, little seats for anyone who wants to sit next to him. |
![]() | And next to the Fire Arena. As we all know, molten lava can get pretty hot, so there's the slight concideration of there being glass between the spectators and the lava itself. If you want to know how glass holds up to the intense heat of magma...Make a fancy explanation in your head about runes, and magic, and mage craft and such. I'm sure as hell not going to. |
![]() | The Casting Arena. More so really, the 'I'm All Out of Ideas for a Theme' Arena, but I couldn't fit all of that in the little sign that I needed to put outside the door. The whole room is glass, and spelled to make containment for magical workings possible. It also, oddly enough, makes it the safest place to be in the building if not for your opponent. But if the building crashes down, this room ought to survive. |
![]() | The Metal Arena. Well, metal and bodies on spikes and skulls too. Bonus points if you can hurl your opponent onto the spiked stake in the center of the arena. The chainlink fences itself are supposed to be threaded with spikes and little bits of jagged metal, making it that much more fun if you get knocked into it. And with plenty of drainage, the blood can be rinsed right off the stone and down the grating. |
![]() | This is the pit itself, one of my favorite parts of the map. The seats closest to the arena are reserved for the current Satan and whoever happens to be favored for company at the time. With connecting cells beyond this room, prisoners can be driven from their cells into the tunnels, and with a switch to open and shut the gates by the Satan-Seat, it's easy enough to lock them in for a bloody melee. |
![]() | This ties with the pit itself as my favorite room in the arena, if only for the depiction of Malbolgea in the stained glass window. And yes, that is a funny looking skull thing on the floor. Malbolgea was a wonderfully over-dramatic villian, with all the cliches, he would have wanted it that way. |
