In a year that baffled us all with a preponderance of tragedy, one thing got us through it all: The joy of seeing Steve Carell perform on the Daily Show.
Whether it was his drunken egg nog sketch, complete with tacky holiday sweater, or his altruistic Slimming Down With Steve ("That's Me!") segments, he was the only thing post-911 and pre-911 that made us all laugh from the depths of our American pie-eatin' souls. Without a doubt, the funniest guy I've ever seen outside of Tex Slazenger (early 90's World Championship Wrestling mid-card wrestling star).
