RealNames Mission
Our mission is to help every entity
establish or greatly strengthen its:
- Brand
- Visibility
- Authentic identity on the web
Our Commitment
Our commitment is to always
be fair, editorially coherent, globally neutral, commercially objective
and maintain the highest levels of security and privacy for subscribers
and end-users.
Our Services
Our service aims to provide
users with a positive Internet navigation experience. We will accomplish
this by:
- Examining every
subscription manually
- Authenticating every site
- Making sure that brand names navigate to
their "official site"
- Ensure no misdirection of end-users
(e.g.:
whitehouse.com, the porn site, cannot subscribe the Internet Keywords
"Whitehouse" or "First Lady")
Our Standards
We do not allow trademark
infringement, cybersquatting, and/or misleading use of language.
Additionally, all Internet Keywords are subject to approval based on
whether the site to which they navigate would provide a "good" end-user
experience.
Defining what a "good"
end-user experience and/or expectation are difficult and subjective
standards, therefore, it is easier to define them by what they are not.
A "bad" user
experience/expectation is one where a user would type in a name and be
delivered to the following sites:
- One having no
correlation to the Internet Keyword
- One bearing the content of a competitor
- One that misleads the user, due to the
ambiguity of the name, and delivers the user to a porn site
- One delivering the user to an
"unofficial" site
- One displaying a "404 error" message or
indicating that the link was dead and the page was not found.
(We have recently implemented
technology that crawls through our data and flags dead links.)
