The first version of XMG was a character on the short lived Ongoing Story RPG on the beloved Marvel.com boards. However his name wasnt XMG, it was X-Man_Gambit (THATS WHAT XMG STANDS FOR!!!) the name I used while posting on the Marvel Boards. His character was very diffrent from the From Marvel version we have all come to know: His age was never specified, but he was never treated as younger than any of the other members of The Flatulent Heroes; There was never any "XMG is Apocalypse's son" busneiss; He had the power to transform any liquid that came from his body into little evil purple beasts called Rigga Shimmas; and he was eventually transformed into a goat. He still however had a great sense of humor and a genius IQ.
XMG debuted in the From Marvel RPG, back when it wasnt really sure if it was an RPG or not. Back before the EZboard, back before the roleplaying board at Marvel.Com even. Back in the day "The Great War" of Apocalypse and The Horseman VS The Victorious Resistance was mainly kept in the Other X-Men Topics section of the Marvel Boards. It had 10(?) members who half argued, half rped in thier replies on the board. I begun to notice the war when it started to spill out of the Other X-Men Topics section of the boards and into other sections. I joined originally as a member of High Lord's army, but Tim (being the first to reply to my message) talked me out of it and I became a member of The Resistance. The character XMG was similar to X-Man_Gambit in his genius IQ and powers, but was diffrent in his age, and his tendency to annoy everybody he came across. He hung around pretty much as Jaik's annoying sidekick who liked to pester the High Lord's armies (Sabre in perticular). As the RPG's popularity begun to rise, XMG went through some changes. Jaik, Sabre, and XMG joined forces to face off against Apocalypse who XMG revealed as his father (That was honestly a spur of the moment thing but I guess it stuck pretty well). Also his powers started going haywire as he showed hints of telepathy and telekinesis. One such crazy power incedent actually turned his skin blue (another spur of the moment thing).
XMG stayed on as a key member of The Resistance through the shutting down of the Roleplaying and Marvel Boards and the opening of the EZboard. As the RPG's focus steered away from The Great War and focused more on the lives of The Resistance, new characters were introduced w/ relationships to XMG: Devo, (my favourite) XMG's best friend/human hating robot assistant; Robert, A kind frozen yogurt despensing robot created by Devo; and Jack Frost, XMG's "evil twin" who took over the body of XMG's deceased friend Wynterstorm and tried time and time again to kill The Resistance. Devo's escalading tension w/ the rest of The Resistance and the Jaik-Sabre-Tokay love triangle sent XMG off the deep end. He attacked NotWedge and almost killed Sabre before he took off without a trace before being recruited by Lobsang into the Resistance Forever program weeks later. His spot on The Resistance roster was filled briefly by Joey The Pervert and then finally by everybody's favorite dimwitted, occasionally evil, hillbilly Justin Effex.
XMG served in Resistance Forever throughout its tenure, but didnt enjoy it very much. He developed a heated rivalry w/ SkyWedge, a member of the team which often resulted in them fighting. He hated being there and felt that everybody was constantly out to piss him off. He did however develop some friendships, most notablly with Mala Chi who ended up sacrficing her life to stop The Pit, a huge evil that threatened to destroy reality.
I originally planned to have XMG stay away from From Marvel until Resistance Forever ended. But seeing is how it lasted longer than I thought it would I brought him back to The Resistance (looking back on that now, it was really the right thing to do considering that Resistance Forever just ended weeks ago.) Things had changed however, Jaik had died, NotWedge was leader, and Sabre was engaged to Tokay, the father of her yet to be born child and somebody XMG just plain didnt like. These factors created a giant chip on XMG's shoulder and made him an unpleasant person to be around for an incrediblly long time. Most noteablly unpleasant was when he was brainwashed by Ms. Ivory and turned into her own evil warrior. He killed Val Cooper and kidnapped Sabre and Tokay's son, Dante. He regained control of his mind eventually, but was never forgiven by several members of the team.
Late last year I decided to leave the Marvel Message Boards. I begun wrapping up my plots and characters (Brad The Mime, Val Cooper, XMG, and Crimson Wall were killed off and Justin, Devo, Guy, and Felix left the Resistance). XMG was the hardest to wrap up considering that he was the character I had been playing for the most time and the most well known. So I created a long final story in which XMG is hunted by The Midnight Sons, a group sworn to eliminate all versions of XMG from reality while trying to stop Jack Frost from ressurecting Apocalypse. In the end XMG sacrificed his life by taking Apocalypse inside of him (ala Cyclops)
So I was sitting there one day bored out of my mind when I decided to visit my old stomping grounds of From Marvel RPG Board. So I was reading all of my past threads and such when I really started to miss the guy. Solotion: Write an ongoing online series of fan fiction revolving around XMG. So yeah. Thats what I did. I ressurected XMG and started a series. Taking place in San Fransisco, the series revolves around XMG and his friends Amaya, Rigley, and Namor as they battle the forces of darkness. It has new Characters such as: The Anointed, The Fife's, Cruz, Ray and Eddie, and The Trashman and will have some good old school characters dropping by as well. I hope that I can write these stories in a manner that will intrest you and keep you coming back for more.
Suggested Read for newbies: The Final Story Of XMG -- The death of XMG which serves as an introduction to The Midnight Sons, who are important characters in the series. Also it explains how he got into hell where we first see him in Issue #1.
