A Glitch In The Colony Part 1 The mist was just clearing over the Area 53 installation. Sgt. Biggins or Biggs as the marines called him, wiped the sweat from his brow as he clutched his pulse rifle. Derek and Wedge were pacing up and down the courtyard on patrol. The marines nightmares the Xenomorphs had been reported to be grouping outside the mountains, but the chopper reporting had engine problems and went down near the site. This meant that the marines had to keep on alert status in case of of an alien assault. Everything was silent, very silent, too damn silent. That’s the trouble with Xenomorphs, they’re so silent all you can hear is the very quiet footsteps. No battle cries, just footsteps. * The marines had been waiting on guard for hours now. Yet more sweat pored from the heads of the marines. Suddenly there was a scratch from over the rocks, above the steps. Biggs raised his pulse rifle towards the noise. The others did the same. Slowly he edged towards the the stairs. Then, from above the stairs a torn object rolled down the steps. Slowly, Biggs crouched, edged again and took a look. It was a marine head, battered and torn from the neck. It was Officer Frome. A vision of his self, screaming. He didn’t want to die. Though he kept it to himself. His facial expression showed it. ‘The Aliens’ came to Biggs’ mind right then. It was right on time too, as what was just about to hit the marines was more than they could imagine. * “What do we do about those damn Xenomorphs!” cried Lt. Skerge. He knew it all. In the business for five god damn years and not a care in the world except the bloody Xenomorphs. Sgt. Richards tried to calm him. “We will line all the infantry available around Area 53.” Richards decided. “That's not good enough” again Skerge cried. “Have you got a better idea Lieutenant!” Richards shouted. Lt Skerge sat back down. * The phone rang in area 53’s main office. No one answered. It rang again. Still no reply. Lt. Skerge tried again. Then the phone line went dead. “Damn!” shouted Richards. “They cut the phone line!”. “Who exactly, cut the phone line?” said Skerge softly, trying not to upset the startled Sergeant. “The Xenomorphs, Lieutenant!” came the reply. “I want a complete search of the area!””Get all the Choppers we can and load them with all the infantry we got!” ordered Richards. “But sir, that’ll leave the whole base unguarded!” shouted the command marine. “I know” came the reply. * The Helicopter blade noises echoed across the mountains and fields. The continuos, deafening noise. “Set her down ‘ere!” yelled Richards over the noise. The lead Helicopters landed, blowing dust ripples around the surrounding area. Slowly the other Choppers landed, spilling out troops carrying weapons of all different types. Richards stepped off the lead Copter and began to line up his men. Soon they all headed for the entrance to the Area 53 pit. * “Holy shit!” cried out Richards. He had seen the area first. The place was completely trashed. The remnant of the marines were corpses, lots of corpses. Some ripped to shreds, arms and legs dismembered and heads decapitated. Others had spears through their heads, up against walls and bleeding from the neck. “This is no Xenomorph attack” muttered Richards “This was done by Predators”. Richards moved on, not noticing that his com. with base was broken on the ground. The men moved on into the installation. Part 2 coming soon......
