BABailey's Rebel 250 Project #2a

Air Box Modifications

I have also drilled out a 1 1/2" hole in the airbox cover and chaulked a piece of window screening mesh
in back of it to allow the airbox to breathe easier as i have been reading many people drill
a series of small holes all in their Rebel's airbox cover
(usually after drilling out the baffles - but i like my pipes stock and quiet)
i did take a 12" long 3/8"dia. drill bit and poked one hole
straight down the middle of the pipe opening through two sets of baffle walls
(4 plates total per side)in each muffler pipe
and then used a 5/8" bit to widen out the first hole (see diagram)
also poked two 1/4" holes through the endplates beside the main pipe opening

i have not yet checked the plugs
or fiddled with the carb mix screw ... plan to have the shop re-jet
sometime this summer ?$? or before putting it away for the winter
...see TO DO LIST on the bottom of main page for wishes and plans...

Inspired by Miguel's Dragon project pages where he replaced the left side airbox cover
with an edelbock automotive air filter add-on,
I set out to attempt to duplicate that modification on my rebel - mainly to add a touch of chrome ...

was in CompUSA a couple weeks ago and spotted those decor fan grill covers
they are used to customize gamer super machines i guess ...
well at $5 each it was cheap enough to pick up the dragon one- so i did
used small zip ties to secure it to the air cover meshwork
adds a custom touch i think ...
