Baxter's BATTLETECH House Rules
(for e-mail campaign)

For ease of play we're going to dumb down some of the rules: (this page is getting longer by the day so check it periodically)

Phases of battle :
There are 2 turn phases Movement and Attack
-their will be a deadline to send out your moves and attacks
-the map will be updated after each movement phase
-if you miss a phase you do not move /attack that phase, miss 3 and you're out of the game

Movement Phase
All movement is simultaneous, this does have some repercussions: mechs will move through each other if 2 mechs cross the same path. Two Mechs will not be able to end the turn in the same hex so of the situation arises, a mech selected randomly will end the phase on the last hex the mech was on but will keep the modifier of their intended movement. If a mech doesn't change hex, it stays in the hex if another mech tries to land in that hex unless satign they are charging or a death from above.

 Attack Phase
Torso/turret rotating, weapons attacks and physical attacks are all done in the attack phase and are simultanious. Mechs can shoot through other mechs without any affect to LOS

Campaign Rules:

This campaign primarily revolves around battletech battles, the "Mechwarrior" will not be used, there is very little role playing. As far as characters go, a name and brief personal history is all you need.

In all missions, transportation, ammo and technicians are provided for by the employer. Also, the company will also have enough technicians, and all repairs (as long as the parts are available) can be made, all attempts at repairs are successful (no partial repairs).

C-bills arent used C-points are

Cost of mech= Battle Value + (tonnage x 6) = c-points

(i.e. Anvil-3M has a battle value of 1,244 and weighs 60 tons, mech will cost = 1,244 + 60 x 6 = 1604 c-points )

use BV value of weapons as their price
armor costs 2 per point
standard internal structure costs 1.5 per point
endo steel internal structure costs 3 per point

Heatsinks: 9
Double Heatsinks: 24
Clan Double Heatsink: 30

Engine shielding costs 50 per crticial slot

Sensors: 27

for cost of other equipment not having a listed BV, simply divide the cost by 3000

Mods:
You cannot change a mechs engine (type or rating) or tonnage or internal structure type. To design your own mech cost will equal (BV x 3) + (tonnage x 9)

Modifying a mech costs 20 plus cost of supplies parts taken out cannot be saved or exchanged for money. If replacing heatsink, you must pay for every heatsink

Repairs:
actuators, jump jets, gyros wth a single crit hit, sensors with a single crit hit, and lifesupport with a single crit hit are repaired for free

engine shileds, armor, internal structure, heat sinks, cockpits , and weapons must be replaced if damaged

gyro, sensors, life support must be replaced if the receive more than 1 crit hit

If a field Modification is necessary you still need to pay the mod cost of 50 c's.

Scavenging:
mechs and all parts still attached on them can be fully repaired and reused. Acaptured mech cannot be sued for 12 hours. Cost for stripping a mech equalss the mechs tonnage.

Pilots:
all players start with a gunnery skill of 4 and a piloting skill of 5, to hire an NPC mechwarrior the unit must pay 500 c-points

Experience:
after every 5 mechs destroyed (kill shot) or 5 successful missions (or a combination of) the pilot reduces his gunnery or piloting skill by one (piloting and gunnery skill cannot have more than a one point difference)
also if a mech was destroyed my mutiple attackers in the same round, no one will get credit for the kill but all the attackers who hit get credit for an assisted kill (which is 30% of a kill shot)

*if you kill a mech 2 or more times your mechs tonnage you get credit for 2 kills
