Monks Park School occupies a 24 acre site on the northern boundary of the City of Bristol. It is a popular school which has earned a good local and national reputation. Links with local primary schools are strong as are links to the community. I believe that we are a forward looking institution aware of the rapidly changing world in which our students will live. Our students must be able to meet the challenges which the future will undoubtedly bring. That future is increasingly about a rapidly changing technological environment and global relationships. We at Monks Park endeavour to equip tomorrow's adults with appropriate knowledge and skills to enable them to lead a happy and fulfilling life. Monks Park is a happy school where learning takes place in a calm, friendly but demanding atmosphere. Great emphasis is placed upon all aspects of the learning environment. Although the school buildings are over forty years old, a steady programme of upgrading and refurbishment has taken place to many areas of the school. We are proud of our drama studio, pleased with our Information Technology facilities and delighted about the new Sports Hall and floodlit all weather pitch - facilities which are second to none in this part of the world. Such contemporary facilities help our determination to raise individual and school achievement levels in all areas of the curriculum. I believe the staff are a good, well qualified team and that what happens in our classrooms does make a significant difference to the levels of achievement of the young people in Monks Park. Our collective endeavour is to make a difference to our students; seeking appropriate challenges to help each one realise their full, often unique potential. Every opportunity and encouragement is given for individuals to excel. We seek to bring out the best individual talent within each young person at the school. Teachers at Monks Park have the skills and abilities required to prepare all our students for a rewarding and responsible role in the world. Our aim is to enable all students to achieve. We also strive to foster mutual respect for all people irrespective of race, gender, cultural or religious difference. Students relationships are good. Students from all backgrounds get on well together forming a cohesive school community. It is never possible to fully describe or do justice to a school in print. Our prospectus is intended to be an introduction, a starting point, for your understanding andawareness of Monks Park School. R Phillips Headteacher
