Step 1: Braid it. Section off the very front pieces of hair (right along the hairline). Pull the rest into a ponytail; secure with a bungee or hair elastic. Braid the center section of loose hair and wrap it aroun the ponytail holder. Secure it to the ponytail with a bobby pin so that the last two to three inches of the braid stick out. Repeat with side sections.
Step 2: Loop It. Spritz hair with flexible-hold hairspray . Separate the ponytail into three equal parts. Curl one section with a large-barrel curling iron to forma long spiral curl. Then pin up each loop of the curl separately. Secure loops around the ponytail to create a ribbon effect. Repeat with the remaining two sections.
Step 2: Spike It. Curl the ends of each of the three braids with a large-barrel curling iron. The finishing touch: Coat fingers with a bit of pomade, then pull on the loose ends of the braids and twirl them with your fingertips to give them a spiky look. Use the rest of the pomade on your fingers to gently smooth over the ponytail loops to control flyaways.
