| Johnny "Red" Kerr was NBA Coach of the Year in 1966-67, and is a
three-time NBA All Star. He provides color commentary for Chicago Bulls radio and
television. Forward from Terry Pluto: |

Johnny Kerr may have the best job in basketball. he gets to watch Michael Jordan from the press table at least 82 times a year. He has to be constantly reminded that it's the players who are supposed to be jumping around, not the commentator. Kerr understands this. But when Michael takes the ball, sticks out his tongue and soars over a couple of seven footers, Kerr loses it. That fan-like intensity won't go away. Johnny Kerr's love affair with the Chicago Bulls started back in the 1966-67 season when he coached them to a record 33 victories as a first-year expansion team. Now he takes us on a nostalgic tour of the great and no-so-great Bulls that have come and gone. |
Here is the Michael Jordan few people see. Here are revealing father-to-father conversations with Jordan's father James. Here also are off-the court anecdotes and growing-up tales that are really out of school. Kerr lets you know what it's like to play center in the NBA. You're on the floor with him fighting off Jabbar's elbows and Chamberlain's finger roll. You face the pressures of the position - the expectations of coaches, fans and other players. Here are Kerr's assessment of Hall of Famers such as Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Oscar Robertson and Julius Erving. |
