Fergie Jenkins tossed a fine 2 hitter at Three Rivers Stadium where the
California Angels beat the Philadelphia Warriors by the score of 3 to 1.
California set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring a single run
using 3 hits. Omar Moreno slapped a single. Moreno was running on the next
pitch and he stole second. Lenny Randle then stroked a one-base hit scoring
the run. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was
able to score again.
The winning pitcher was Jenkins(1-0) who allowed 1 run for the game. The loss
was charged to Don Hood(0-1). He gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in 4 innings.
