Gene Richards had 5 hits and 3 RBI at Three Rivers Stadium where the
California Angels beat the Philadelphia Warriors in 10 innings by the score
of 9 to 8.
Both teams were tied at 8 runs apiece after nine innings. California won the
game in the 10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Richards tripled.  Lenny
Randle stepped up next and he laced a base-knock resulting in a mighty
exciting win for California and the 49,945 home town fans in attendance.  For
the game California out-hit Philadelphia 16 to 12.  
The winning pitcher was Tom Johnson(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Eric Rasmussen(1-1) was the loser in relief.  He gave up 3 hits and
no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.
