Dinghy Slide Racer 25x5 |

Not pretty, but cheap and effective
In the original RCT, I often found myself avoiding the Water Slide (now called Dinghy Slide in RCT2). This ride took just as much room as a coaster, but did not provide the same level of excitement. With a maximum of only 12 boats, it did not carry as many guests as most coasters. With RCT2's larger map size and ability to use more boats, these problems are somewhat mitigated. Some care is required in designing Dinghy Slides, as boats can stall on hills if the speed is too low, or crash if the speed is too high. The speed variation between runs seems larger than for coasters, which means the ride has to be carefully tested. Hint: test both with and without peeps. It makes a difference. This ride has sixteen boats, capable of carrying a total of 32 guests at a time. With some theming, the excitement will move into the "high" range. I've found this design useful as a racing companion for mouse coasters. Since the mouse also has a large number of cars, the timing can work out well. Dinghy Slide Racer 25x5 is a clear upgrade from the two Dinghy Slide designs that come with the game. "Ice Flow" has only four boats, and "Demon Drop" uses only six boats. Neither design is particularly space efficient. This is a deadly combination for scenario play. If you plan to use them, I'd suggest modifying them first - by several measures, they are among the least effective rides in the entire standard library. Excitement: 4.75 |
