Cutthroat Gravity Gardens

Phase III - A massive build-out to complete the scenario

The finanical picture from August, Year 1 through the end of the game in April, Year 2 tells the story.

  • Park admissions were low in August, as the park was closed for 10 days.
  • This set up a big September gate. The massive construction kept the gate up in October and March.
  • Ride construction was about $86,000, spread over three months. I did take out loans to accelerate construction.
  • The biggest push was in September. This gave me a great gate in October and March - and providing just enough cash to finish the build-out. August was too soon to start - I didn't have enough cash to complete the project in three months, and coasters built in August would have depreciated more by April, slowing down scenario completion.
  • Park value went from $180,000 to $505,000, an increase of $325,000 in five months.

A final point - I did a lot of shop and stall construction near the end. Shop sales contribute to park value. By building the park with an insufficient number of shops and stalls, I created a "pent up demand" for their products. This made the shops' contribution to park value greatest at the moment when I was attempting to win.

The coasters were a mix of types. They were consistently kept small. Quite a few were from Track Pack One. The scenario download is from April 1, year 2 - a day before the balloons go up.

If you download the scenario, and run the park for even a short time, you will notice that it is quite unstable in terms of handyman and mechanic service. Staff was micromanaged the entire game. This is not usually my preference, but for the purpose of this game - a quick victory at all costs - was mandatory.
