Read this review about Microsoft Midtown Madness:
Microsoft Midtown Madness was one of the most popular games after the second version came out. There are four modes you can choose from:
-Cruise (Drive around like a crazyman or obey the harsh driving laws of Chicago. Make sure you don't get the cops down your a**!
-Blitz Race (Drive through checkpoints to arrive at a certain location given before the time runs out.
-Circuit Race (Drive laps against other computer-controlled cars)
-Checkpoint Race (Drive against others through checkpoints to quickly reach the finish)
Win these races to unlock other races and cars:
The cars available are:
VW Beetle
Cadillac Eldorado
Freightliner Century
Ford Mustang GT
Ford Mustang Cruiser
For Mustang Fastback
Ford F-350
VW New Beetle
Panoz Roadster
Panoz GTR-1
Drive with these cars either cruising in the busy city of Chicago. Locations like Navy Pier, Hangcock Tower, Sears Tower, and Meigs Field are all existent in this great game.
In the multiplayer games, play by serial cable, ip address, or msn gaming zone
IP Games (Hosting)
Open Midtown Madness
Go to multiplayer
Click on TCP/IP Connection
Click on Host
Chose game type (ex. cops and robbers)
Chose vehicle, weather, etc. Then proceed
Press Continue
To find your IP# that you are gonna give to the players, go to:
Start, Programs, Accesories, MS-DOS Prompt
In the window that comes up, type ipconfig
Press enter; the # under IP Address is it
IP Games (Joining)
Open Midtown Madness
Go to multiplayer
Click on TCP/IP Connection
Click on Join
Type the IP# a "friend" gives you and click on Done.
Once the settings are retrieved, chose vehicle, etc.
Then proceed by clicking on Continue
Playing Cops and Robbers
The objective of the game is to get gold and put it somewhere safely (hideout or bank)
If you play cops vs. robbers, the only cars available are Mustang GT or Mustang Cruiser
If you play Free-for-all, you play by yourself against everyone else, all cars that host has can be used
If you play robber teams, there are only robbers and teams are either red or blue (here you help your side)
Get the gold, where the arrow points to, but try to rely more on the map (get it by driving through it)
Once you have obtained the gold, your goal is to reach a hideout or bank (depending on if you're a cop or a robber)-the arrow will also lead you to this
Once the gold is deposited, go for the next piece!
To get the gold from an opponent you must crash them really hard or frequently, and they will drop the gold
Then you can steal it and be proud of yourself!
