After touring the continent on the Blackbird, I quite
fancied a big tourer and looked at Goldwings.
A ride on a K1200LT proved that you can get all the
comfort of the Goldwing, with all the Gizmos, and still get some
reasonable ground clearance.
The luggage space is cavernous, and this
bike came with six CD, cruise control, electric seats and grips, as well
as an electric screen and loads of extra chrome trim.
So, off on a European tour.
There was a lot of talk at the time of Britain pulling away from Gibraltar,
so I thought I'd better go see it whilst it was still British. I took a
leisurely four-day trip through the Pyrenees. The photo here, shot in
Andorra.
The bike proved quite agile, even through the twisties of these Pyrenean
roads.
After leaving Andorra and have the bags
unpacked by the most unfriendly customs men you could hope to meet, I
headed south. And the picture here is outside a hotel north of Malaga.
After Gibraltar I really tested the bike's capability by returning
home, 1700 miles, in two days and one night.
