AUGUST 2002
Q. Is RTSC IN PRE-PRODUCTION NOW?
A. Yes. Robert Hiltzik, Felissa Rose, and Jeff Hayes are actively prepping the film as we speak. A Lot has already been done… So rest assured that the ball is rolling!
Q. WILL ANGELA BE BACK IN RTSC?
A. “Maybe Yes, Maybe No!” The fact is that 4 variations of the RTSC script were written by Robert Hiltzik. Each script has different variations of the story. ANGELA is in one of these versions.
Q. DOES RTSC PICK UP AFTER SLEEPAWAY CAMP 3: TEENAGE WASTELAND?
A. No. RTSC is a Direct sequel to the original film…and despite whether or not ANGELA Returns, Ronnie (Paul DeAngelo) and Ricky (Jonathan Tiersten) will be back and are very much a part of the storyline to the new film. The storyline was tweaked so that You didn’t have to see SLEEPAWAY CAMP to understand it…however, if you did see SLEEPAWAY, You’ll be one step ahead of the game in knowing some of the RETURNing characters.
Q. IS THE “Feel” OF THE FILM MORE LIKE THE ORIGINAL OR THE SEQUELS?
A. RTSC is more of a RETURN to the roots of the first film. The tone is more along the lines of the original SLEEPAWAY CAMP than the sequels. However, that does not mean that there isn’t any dark humor to the film, because indeed RTSC packs a punch from all angles.
Q. WHO HAS BEEN CAST IN THE FILM?
A. The ONLY confirmed cast members from the original film at this point are Jonathan Tiersten and Paul DeAngelo. There have been auditions for various roles and some of the auditioned actors WILL be playing specific parts. At one point, VINNY PASTORE (“Big Pussy” in THE SOPRANOS and also in the upcoming SERVING SARA with Bruce Campbell and Elizabeth Hurley) was tagged to play CAMP OWNER…however, Camp may be under new management soon! When all is fact and confirmed, you’ll find who’s who right here.
…And last but not least, We apologize for the long delay in getting these answers out to you! It has been a busy year… And we are all Still Campin’ Away to make sure that we bring you the Best RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP Possible!!! If waiting a little longer MEANS a better movie, then we can wait a little longer. In the meantime the SLEEPAWAY Trilogy is NOW available on DVD… So study up on your SLEEPAWAY CAMP… and get ready to RETURN!

Why was the shooting of RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP postponed...and is the movie still getting made?
Is "Angela" in the film or not?
PREVIOUS NEWS:
-Paul DeAngelo Will be reprising his role as the amiable counselor, RONNIE, who left us with those unforgettable words, "She's a Boy," when he found ANGELA at the end of the first film. -Those of you who attended the SLEEPAWAY CAMP REUNION in April will recall that Robert assured everyone that "Ricky Did NOT die" at the end of SLEEPAWAY CAMP. If that wasn't a hint, I don't know what is! Yes folks, Jonathan Tiersten will be RETURNing to camp!
Some interesting news on RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP today. While in Texas for the SLEEPAWAY SCREENINGS in Austin, director Robert Hiltzik did a little location scouting with the Texas film commissioner. Could SLEEPAWAY be headed for the Alamo?
I'm a bit sad to report that ED FRENCH will no longer beheading (cheesy pun intended) up the make-up effects for RETURN. However, some well known effects artists want to take a stab at the project! I will say that the current effects-maestro has quite an impressive resume that includes a few entries in some of the best series horror flicks out of the awesome 80's and some of the GOOD horror flicks from the 90's (which I know are few and far between). Any guesses? Robert did indeed say that the film will be made with REAL make-up effects and not the silly computer generated effects used frequently in horror films these days. It will be "Old School" at its finest!
Will there be more of kids swearing and wearing fashionable threads?? Yes, there will be lots of swearing and kids being kids! As for the threads, the bigger budget means bigger wardrobe...but Robert still insists that the clothes worn in SLEEPAWAY were the style at the time! LOL.
RUMOR CONTROL
Howdy Campers. With all the rumors that have been going around regarding
RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP, many fans have been asking me to confirm if the gossip that they have been hearing is true.
Allow me to clarify things...
STATUS:Production on RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP has been postponed
until Spring 2002 so that there is more pre-production time. There are
a lot of grisly effects in the film, and postponing the shoot leaves
much more time to plan and create better effects. It also allows more time for other various pre-production needs so things don't have to be rushed. So yes, it is
actually for the best. And YES, the movie is getting made.
STATUS:Let me add some Mystery to the
Mystery. Writer/director Robert Hiltzik has drafted up 4 alternate
scripts for RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP that have been seen by various cast and crew. Although the basic premise is the same, Each script is different...and some of them have different characters (although some characters are in all 4 scripts and confirmed- see below for confirmed cast members)!! The
actors/crew involved in the film were given a chance to read 1 of the 4
alternate scripts...But which script will make it to the final cut?? That's the mystery. Therefore anything you have heard from other sources is basically
speculation. Will ANGELA be in RETURN? That question will be answered the day RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY
CAMP opens... Until then, if you want to give into speculation, that
choice is yours...the rest of us will Keep On Campin'!
-Loris Sallahian, who played "BILLY" has been signed-on as COSTUME DESIGNER for the film. Check out his NEW interview with sleepawaycampmovies.com HERE!!
-John Klyza and Jeff Hayes of sleepawaycampmovies.com have successfully REUNITED writer/director Robert Hiltzik with oscar-nominated special FX master, ED FRENCH, the man who made all those brutally realistic death props in SLEEPAWAY CAMP. Robert recently met with Ed to discuss the gruesome fx for the new film. Some of Ed's other visually stunning work includes the cult classic horror flick: DEADTIME STORIES and the Mega-Blockbuster: TERMINATOR 2.
