World War II Propaganda Posters

I love WWII posters. I think they tell us so much about what was going on in our country at this point in our history. One way to find out what issues were important to a culture is to study their popular images and that is exactly what this is.

This is one of my favorites, it showed how important women were to the war effort. These posters were aimed at women who had never had jobs before and perhaps never had considered working, but now their help was needed. It is called Victory Waits on Your Fingers and it was produced by the Royal Typewriter Company for the U.S. Civil Service Commission

This may seem funny now, but every little bit did help! This poster was printed for the Office of War Information and was designed by Henry Kroener in 1943

A personal favorite that is also on display at the Smithsonian. It encouraged people to share rides in order to save gas for the war effort. It was made for the Office of Price Administration in 1943. It was designed by Weimer Pursell
