After much finger-biting, lotsa cold sweat and some
luck ... (whew!!)
the TD125 has finally joined his peers in active
service!
It's now matched with a SME3009 Series 2 Improved
and a vintage Shure V15 Type3 LM cart.
Oddly, as in the past, the older V15 Type 3 seems "too
big"... in that the top-front of the cart
doesn't clear the "drop" of the headshell. A
customed shim of plexiglass was made for clearance.
The mounting screws were also a tad too small from
the norm and had to customise as well.
Cartridge weight, with shim and alum mounting fixtures,
now weighs in at almost 8gm
and the balance scale on the 'way rod' was adjusted
accordingly.
So far, it has not affected arm resonance, tracking ability or degraded sonics...
It orginally
looked like this...

The NEXT step?
A
wood-veneered plinth would be nice...
something
like this is also belly good!
