Super
R-TYPE combined the best ideas from RTYPES 1 and 2 and added some further ideas
to make one great game. Another one of my favorites, Super R-TYPE provided a
great gaming experience.

some levels are made better, some left alone, and some from scratch. On first
look Super R-TYPE sounds like a cash-in and a waste of the player’s money.
That’s until you start to play it. The graphics are lovely, some of the new
bosses are superb, and you can get the feeling of all the previous R-TYPE games
without feeling ripped off in one lovely bundle. It isn’t easy either.
My one quarrel is the choice of the last level boss, Woom just doesn’t seem t
cut it again. I may be picky but I’d rather have seen a new boss for the final
encounter.
Graphics
4/5
Nice graphics here. Clean, crisp and slightly better than 2 in places. The
levels although varied (due to the mixing of levels) blend nicely, and the new
version of the mega warship will make you quiver in fear!
Sound
4/5
The music is very cool as with most of the r-types, and suitably improved from
the last two outings. You’ll recognize some tracks from the older games too.
