Kalmar Cathedral (or DomKyrkan in Swedish), dates back to the late 1600's. Legend has it that prisoners were allowed to go to church on a Sunday, but were not allowed to sit so they could see the beautifully ornate altar. In addition, unmarried women who had children, were only allowed to sit behind the prisoners!
