04.26.02: I Didn't Know They Even Made Weeks Like
These. We at stub|central are downsizing. How, you may ask, is this possible, when the web page staff is essentially one person? Well, I'm glad you asked! It's not so much the staff that we are downsizing, as much as it is the pants. Angel took me pants-shopping, and thus, it was productive this time. The gray pants, the pants last pants that I could rely on, have failed me. It's not so much of a failure in duty on the part of my pants, as much as a failure of balance on my part. More specifically, I was walking around on campus and tripped on my own gosh darn pants, thereupon ripping a gimongous rip in the bottom...and doing so again while kicking a rubber ball that night in my dorm, all in the same day. So! I now have what we like to call real-people pants, where they are not like dresses over each leg. I can recall being told on more than one occasion that, boy, did I sure have some "mean britches." True Story. It's the end of the school year, and what better way to concentrate on your work and prepare for finals by doing everything in your power to keep from concentrating on your work and preparing for finals? Wednesday night was the Jump, Little Children concert at the Georgia Theater. They are good performers, and I even got to find out which band members are the hot band members. Well, you learn something every day up here. The openers were some dude named something or other, and a woman named Danielle Howe, who is an impressive vocalist and guitarist, though her acapella songs were nothing less than sweet necta. That my body has been replaced by a cooked spaghetti noodle is largely due to the best game of Capture the Flag ever, which, incidentally, was last night on North Campus. Thirty (30) people showed up. That's three-oh. People. Lots of kids from CCF (Campus Christian Fellowship, I think that's the acronym) and from the fencing club were there, not to mention the Myers-community backbone of CTF. We didn't invent Capture the Flag, we just breathed life into its lungs. If you weren't there last night, and that's not many of you, then you missed out big-time. I nabbed a couple of pictures from it, and I will post them sometime. I know you've heard that one before, but it will happen. Maybe not before summer break sets in, but, well, yeah. So there. Speaking of Rufus Wainwright, which I was, but not just now, I'll be seeing him at the 40 Watt Club this Monday night. When I mention that name, most people get a distant look as if they have heard of him and are trying to figure out where. Well, you have. He did a Beatles cover on the I Am Sam soundtrack, a cover of "Hallelujah" on the Shrek soundtrack (I think), and the title song and sadly less-remembered track on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. This may be due to that song's being in French. Anyway, all in all a good singer/songwriter and pianist, so I'm excited to go see that show. Unfortunately, I'll have to miss out on a Turquoise Lawn Flamingos show, UGA's improv comedy team. So here's my plug just for the cause. I figure if I can't go, but someone reads this and does go, then I won't feel so bad about missing out. And to whomever keeps taking all the paper towels from our bathroom: I know your type. You're the non-turn-signal-users, the person who says "g2g" on IM when you have to leave. And I bet you like DragonBall Z for its literary value, and Blink 182 for their musical talent, accordingly. In fact, you're probably those jerks who all live on 3-North. You'll get yours. I will see to that. Oh yes, I will. -stub out- |
