Potion-Vending Machine
All the uselessness of the chemistry set without any of the hassle! Should be probably my last release, what with accomplishing all my lifelong goals and all. I don't think I got it tweaked quite perfectly, but it's manageable. But anyway, this is my long-worked-on Potion Vending Machine. Yes, yes, Oddsims has a potion vending machine. It doesn't have all of the potions, whereas this one has all eight - clones, subtraction, addition, personality reversal, monsterization, invisibility, hamster disease cure-all - am I missing any? It's just like the chemset, but no work involved. Mostly it was a way for me to research OBJD editing, dgrp manipulation, dialog bitmap hexing and parameter reassignment. There's also an additional option for - uh, well, it's Calvinesque - and Hobbes-esgue. Geez, look at the picture above (and speaking of the picture above, no, there is no cool glow, and it doesn't look quite that bad - it's just a squeegy compressed non-interlaced png).
In order for the animations to exist, this object uses movements for Maxis' Disastor Fizz Vendor, so if you don't have that, go get it. I didn't use the Pepsi Machine for obvious reasons. Sorry I didn't hack the animations too, but that would just have been a larger download.
I really liked making this object, and wanted it perfect. Close enough for government work, I say. Graphics are passable, but I really like the bottle bitmaps I made for the accessories. Some don't make particular sense, but you try theming an inverse-personality sports drink. I also got lazy and didn't make custom bitmaps for every single dialog - just too much trouble. The dialogs themselves were pretty fun to write though - I've always wanted to write copy for a line of extreme beverages. As for testing: like I said, it isn't tweaked perfectly - it advertises a little high, because the original vending machine did. But nothing disastrous. I figure if you're willing to have one of these in your home, you're okay with weird dialogs and freaky sim stuff.
Overall a nice little after-dinner course for my Sims career, and I really hope you like it, especially after all the incomplete stuff I've offered up over the years. Finally a nice, out-of-the-box product for immediate play and placement. Oh, and listen to it - I gave it gurgling noises instead of the mechanical whir of the Pepsi vendor. It's like there's a lab in there!
