The Victoria-Fraserview/Killarney (VFK) Community Vision was developed by
local residents working with City staff. The Vision describes what
local residents value and want to preserve, what improvements are needed,
and how changes should occur.
In January 2002, the VFK Vision was approved by City Council. The
Vision will guide decisions on spending, development and community programs
over the next 20 years. The Vision also provides the community with a
focus for local actions and initiatives such as the Wales Street Heritage
Day Festival.
At community meetings held in February & March 2002, residents formed the
VFK City Plan Committee to pursue Vision implementation. One of this
Committee's priorities is to recognize and celebrate VFK's heritage.
Other priorities include: improving local traffic conditions, improving
community safety through the formation of neighbourhood patrols and Block
Watch, improving local parks for more diverse activities, and strengthening
and improving local shopping streets like Victoria Drive and Kingsway/Joyce.
The VFK CityPlan Committee meets monthly at Killarney Community Centre.
All meetings are open to community residents. For more information on
meeting dates and times, please call Catherine Buckham at 604-873-7265.

families;
