Hinges

The making of a new hinge and the repairing of a damaged hinge is more technical than meets the eye. Repairing a hinge can be more difficult that making a new one. First of all the damaged hinge parts must be removed and the channel or bed for the hinge tubing must be re cut. Care must be taken to align the channel for the tubing so the cover will align itself properly with the main housing of the case. If care is not taken in this step the cover will not close properly and there will be open seams. Them we select the correct diameter tubing and cut it to the exact length needed. We then place it at the correct place in the channel and solder it. A clean solder job is a must. Too much solder makes a sloppy job and a poorly functioning hinge.
