Bananarama's Greatest Hits

This is Bananarama's first Greatest Hits album that was originally released in 1988. Has all the essentials, including the fantastic Trick Of The Night which is often missed out on Bananarama compilations. Unfortuntely, it lacks alot of the quality of the earlier stuff-for example, the heartfelt Cheers Then is missed out.

1. Venus
2. I Heard A Rumour
3. Love In The First Degree
4. I Can't Help It
5. I Want You Back
6. Love, Truth And Honesty
7. Nathan Jones
8. Really Saying Something
9. Shy Boy
10. Robert De Niro's Waiting
11. Cruel Summer
12. It Aint What You Do
13. Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)
14. Rough Justice
15. Trick Of The Night
16. Aie A Mwana

Bananarama's Greatest Hits

The Very Best Of Bananarama

The Very Best of Bananarama was released in 2001 to mark 20 years of Bananarama! Nicely packaged with a similar track listing to the Greatest Hits but also includes Bananarama's version of the famous Beatles song Help, which is actually very good! And funny, having recorded it in 1989 with Comic Relief doppelgangers Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Kathy Burke! Like The Grestest Hits though it lacks some really good earlier songs. There is also only one track from True Confessions; Venus. No Trick Of The Night! However, that does mean that there are some nice surprises when you get the actual albums, if you're not already that familiar with the Bananas. The Best Of cd also includes some later Bananarama songs such as Long Train Running and Preacher man, from the album Pop Life (1991) and Movin' On which are all fairly decent. Skip the Tempus Fugit Mix though! It messes with the original songs!

Really Saying Something

This is the latest offering of Bananarama’s greatest hits on CD. I thought it was definitely worth mentioning as it shows how they progressed from ‘81 up to the early 90s. It sure is a strange choice of tracks though; a couple of them were not even released as singles!

  1. Really Saying Something
  2. Young At Heart
  3. What A Shambles
  4. Robert DeNiro’s Waiting
  5. State I’m In
  6. Rough Justice
  7. Do Not Disturb
  8. Cut Above The Rest
  9. Once In A Lifetime
  10. I Can’t Help It
  11. I Want You Back
  12. Love, Truth and Honesty
  13. Cruel Simmer ‘89
  14. Only Your Love
  15. Is Your Love Strong Enough
  16. Heartless
  17. More, more, More

18.Tempus Fugit Mix: Venus/I Heard a Rumour/Love in the First Degree

It also misses out Venus, one of their biggest hits but Is Your Love Strong Enough makes up for that, one of their better later tracks; a ballad and very melodic. But what is that Tempus Fugit Mix doing again??
