Repairs
I didn't do a thorough recap/restoration on this radio because it was in pretty good shape. I did replace the electrolytic caps before I plugged it in. With that repair and a repair to the speaker (the voice coil had been knocked off of the pole), the radio played fine on the AM band. This is a SW radio too, but I'm only getting the AM band.
The biggest challenge so far was getting the dial pointer knob off its spindle. The set screw wouldn't turn and I wound up breaking the knob getting it off. Its made of bakelite, so it went back together just fine with superglue, but it is gouged up from my attempts to remove it. Whoever stripped the cabinet (as seen in the before picture) stripped it with the chassis in the cabinet!
This is the after picture. The finish came out pretty good, but all in all this is just a plane-Jane inexpensive tombstone radio from the later 1930s. It seems to be the compliment to my RCA T-4-8A .
